Hiya,

I am out of ordinary glossy cardstock, so thought I would try and use photographic cardstock instead. I used my usual Stazon black pad, but have found that I
can hardly get an impression to stick on the card. I thought my pad was slightly dry, so I added more ink but it made no difference to the image. I thought
Stazon would stamp on any glossy surface, does anyone have a explanation or help with this please?

Photo glossy paper is designed for use in ink jet printers. The paper has a specially absorbent coating so the ink doesn't smudge as it comes through the
printer.

Cheaper paper is not so good at this so the ink can smear, but it means it is better for stamping onto!

Proper glossy stamping card - I get mine from Craft Creations, gives a finish that is well worth the price.

noticed that printer is still wet if you try to use diamond glaze or any dimensional glue on top of it - it will lift the ink off!! Its just not the same

I think my words have come back to bite me in ....a tender place! Yesterday I spent the morning making backgrounds for ATCs with glossy photo paper and alcohol
inks (done it before). Then I stamped on some of them using Ranger archival ink.......I wrecked half a dozen because in pulling off the stamp I also removed
some of the coating!!! Ended up using Stazon after all, which worked fine .

Has the coating of the photgraphic card got grease on it from your fingers? ( not that i am implyng you have greasy fingers?LOL) But i use photgraphic card
sometimes for Encaustic Art, and the wax won't stick to anywhere that had been accidently touched with fingertips, it leaves white marks?
To see if this is the case try gently rubbing a soft tissue over the card first to take off any marks that may be on it and then try? Only handle this kind of
card by the very edges. Hope this...

Stazon is solvent based; it may be that causing a reaction on the glossy card.

I love using alcohol inks on glossy card but although a lot of people stamp on top with Stazon it'sa mistake (gives a fuzzy outline). Instead I use Ranger
Archival Ink which is a lovely intense black- I wonder if that would give you a good result on your photo paper?

It must be the photographic coating that is on the photo paper. I have gloss card that i use with my brayer to do backgrounds on and the stazon works a treat.

I think Joanna Sheen has gloss paper for art in her shop. Im sure i saw it there as i needed to top up.

Stazon looks wonderful on Matt photographic card. I use that a lot for really crisp sharp images that i want to look ultra clear and clean lined. Not much use
for colouring in with Marvey Le Plumme II...
