Haven't managed to read all the mails and now it is tomorrow morning. I hope the despair of last night has lifted a little and your son's pain has receded. I'm sure the hospital should be able to sort out pain relief with fewer side effects - patches or suppositories are excellent (I know this from personal experience) and might be worth discussing with your doctors. It's so bad that the pain relief causes more complications you could well do without.

I have only just seen this post. I really hope you managed to get some help from the doctor this morning. I was very poorly as a child and can remember very clearly my Mum dragging herself out of bed half a dozen times a night to give medicine and kisses. I remember how exhausted she always looked but she never complained. Mums are awesome people who do a fantastic job and I'm sure your son is very much aware of how much you are there for him calming him and giving him medicines and hugs....

My poor 10yr old ds is in so much pain at the moment and so depressed now that its breaking my heart. His illness is a very long story, but to cut it short he has endured over 6 years of very high dose steroid therapy and the side effects are terrible. His muscles are so weak that he keeps damaging the soft tissue in his joints and he suffers severe cramps in hands, legs and feet. He is unable to go anywhere or do anything without lots of pain. Tonight he sobbed his heart out saying he just...
