I think like everyone else I got into it very young I always liked drawing and my mother and aunt taught me to knit and embroider,I knitted for years then suddenly stopped and did nothing for years then when I was widowed I took up cross stitch which I still do and when I married my second husband he got sky and that was it I saw QVC and Dawn Bibby and said I can do that and I did,I eventually found c&c (dont buy tho') saw Joanna and I was hooked on her cds,I just love card making...

I have done many crafts from a young age as my Mum and Gran were great crafters of the sewing and fine work - so I have picked up from them - I loved Cross stitch which lead me to find cards to put some small work in and it took off from there - then about 4-5 years ago my Mum had a Christmas card with a simple Christmas tree embossed on the front - a very small one but it looked classy so we set about buying a few bits
as we thought it would be cheaper than buying Christmas cards

I have always been creative.. I used to make and decorate novelty cakes..Then I went mad with dried flower arranging... then I took a pressed flower class back in '98 and absolutely loved it and got completely hooked on pressing flowers and using them on cards and then my artwork. Cardmaking has grown since then, I love using all kinds of mixed media both in my art and my cards now.

like most of you i have been crafting in one way or another. knitting, sewing - not clothes but making christmas decorations for the tree, crochet, tapestry but knitting will always be my first love but now i do not knit anymore, the wool is either too cheap or too expensive and all the wool shops have disappear.

i got into card making when 2 years ago i brought 6 cards and the price was over 25 pounds. i have to buy around 30 birthday cards each year. i went straight to a well know...

i got into crafting due to illness,mother and joanna sheen.lol was off sick and flicking through channels on sky and found c&c, where joanna was demonstrating,told mum about it and she lent me some cds,some craft supplies and a monster was born..lol

I began about 18 years ago by painting strawbaskets, and spent a fortune on paint, but I loved it. But in the end my relatives got tired of getting a basket for every Xmas and birthday so I began making my own earrings, since I only found rubbish in the shops. I made them out of fimoclay...then I stopped buying Xmas cards coz I thought them rubbish too and havent bought a card since 1999. I made Birthday and Christmas cards. I have also painted in Oils for two years at a local craftcenter....

Have dabbled for years, but took up card making in a serious way around two and a half years ago in a bid to preserve my sanity... although I'm not sure being influenced by certain folk on here is helping my case at all

I started papercrafting about a year ago after having to stop my cake decorating buisness due to ill health, have recently started to become very interested in the computer after discovering Joanna & this forum, it's VERY addictive!

like many others I've dabbled over the years with different bits n bobs - got into cross stitch with my children when they were little - my granny taught me to crochet when I was 16, got into dress making when I got married/had family. Got into card making when I bought my first computer and bought Printmaster card making CD and its spiraled from there - have graduated to Greeting Cards Factory and Joanna & Sharon's CDs now!

i started years ago when my children were babies i used to do dress making make all there bits then i did rug making as i needed rugs then would turn my photos into cross stich but then my eyes got bad so gave up cross stitch and went into card making. i do like sewing but these days only on the machine

I started cross stitching to help while the hours away after loosing my dad, it kept my mind occupied a little. I picked up glass painting and thenmoved onto card making but I have been knitting ,crocheting and embroidering since primary school.

I'd always sewed my own clothes and for the family in the "Old" days and knitted etc , patchwork quilts. Saw a lady at an Art demo and I admired her ring she said she had got it at QVC and as we had just got Sky (as he likes Sport ) I explored and found QVC and Dawn Bibby and Create and craft . saw Joanna and bgt 3 of her CD's and her papercraft DVD Eventually had a cupboard built to put all the things I have collected .If I had never met the lady I'd be pounds...

I've done many crafts over the years, crochet, dressmaking, tapestry, embroidery etc though it's a long time since I did any. Card making started the Christmas after I'd retired and I was on an economy drive. Picked up a £1 pack of d-i-y cards and it was the worst economic decision I've ever made but I love doing it.

Like most of you I have always crafted in one way or another, knitting, crochet, dressmaking etc, made my wedding dress and three bridesmaids dresses, when the children were small I made most of their clothes and started decorating cakes firstly for their birthdays then went on to do Wedding/anniversary cakes. Same as most of you, I have always done things, knitted a 4 ply jumper for myself when I was 9
and carried on from there really, always knitted and sewed our three childrens clothes when
they were little, I think the last things I knitted for them were Aran jumpers when they were teenagers!
Then the grandchildren started arriving so got the needles out once more, loved it . But now they
don't want knitted things, nor do their mums , .

I too have been a crafter since childhood really ,but only got into cards seriously last year, its so relaxing and it takes your mind off other things ,like H............K and I.........G etc. I have made such lovely friends here too which is a huge bonus. Hugs Rita xxxxxxxxxxxxx

I started crafting because I was fed up of the rubbish selections you get in the shops.
Now I love making the card according to what the person likes.
It was either the fact that the picture on the front was nice with a rubbish verse, or that the verse was great but the image rubbish.
Got fed up of paying huge amounts for a piece of cardboard too.
