it happened to me last week carol, it ate everything it could, i lost loads. DS let it in, how, god only knows. we have extra external HD n it ate most of that too!! as well as what was on main HD, luckily it's what pete 'does' so he was able to get most of it back. but i'm still opening files n seeing blank screens!!!
you rant away, i did last week too.

I had it happen to me too Carol. I got a Trojan Horse when my Norton was fully functional. I had a warning it detected it, and then let it in. Fortunately I hadn't had it too long, so didn't lose my photos, my SIL had put those all on cds for me. I didn't even know what a Trojan was. If I can be of any help just give me a shout. xx

That would really P*** me off, I can understand how frustrating it is for you. I keep all my bits and bobs on an external hard drive, I should really unplug it when I shut down the comp or when I am not using it. I have lots of stuff stored on the main computer, and for some unknown reason it wont switch on. Will have to get that checked out.
I never open attachments on my emails, unless some one has told me they have sent one, that can be dangerous too.

Oh goodness Carol, I'm so sorry to hear about that, how awful. I do so sympathise as I lost everything on my old laptop when it blew. I'm sure that we will all do our best if there is anything you think we can help you with.

I wouldn't mind but I had run a complete virus scan after updating my AVG yesterday afternoon and it was as clean as a whistle............ it's the "to do" list that has peed me off more than anything. I had loads of stuff on it and the whole damn lot has gone.

Think I will revert to using CDs as a back up - just in case it ever happens again! The internal back up SHOULD have remained untouched but it didn't...............

Oh Carol! How awful! I am so sorry. No doubt some of us can help with craft sites, between us we probably have every one in the universe. I would be hysterical if it was me, I wouldn't just be ranting, I would probably have been locked up for my own safety.

How terrible, Carol. It's what we all dread happening. It only takes one to slip through your internet security system and you're done for! Rant away - I'm sure I'd be screaming the house down! I must admit that I tend to shy away from downloading a lot of things just in case this same thing happens but, as you'd used this site before you naturally trusted it to be secure.

I really hope that you manage to get your computer back to normal with your email...

Last night I downloaded a trial game from i-win.com which is a site I have used many, many times before and have bought games from them too.
