Unfortunately you don't have to be old to get shingles. I have amazed the doctors by having had shingles 3 times . Once at 16 on my stomach-still have
scarring, again at 33 on my face, and the third time when I was 35 (after a hysterectom)-again on my face and forehead- just a wider path. My kids actually
called me elephant woman because I had this huge swollen mass from my forehead down to each side of my nose. The second time was given medication to relieve

Maggie,
It won't have been your grandchildren. You can't catch Shingles. You must have had chickenpox at some time. The chickenpox virus remains dormant in
your body afterwards. When something triggers it again (stress, run down etc) it comes out then as Shingles.
You can however pass on the Chickenpox virus to others while you have Shingles because you are highly infectious, but you can't pass on Shingles.
