I somehow managed to pick up a Trojan Horse recently. I was going nuts trying to get rid of it, I had AVG Free edition which told me I
had got it but that it couldn't be healed as it was in the archive. I searched the internet for removal tools for it but couldn't find anything about
it. I could find various other versions but not this exact one. What I did find out was that it was a password stealing device - fortunately we hadn't
used any passwords since we found it. Eventually I phoned our bank to suspend our internet banking - just to ensure that no-one else was using it. The bank
were brilliant and they recommended a website which would find and remove this thing (nothing other than AVG had picked it up - including Norton, Spyware
Doctor and Spybot) The site not only removes viruses but will scan your computer for vulnerabilities and make recommendations on how to fix them.
Have a look at www.f-secure.com and click on security centre. There is a list of things to do including scanning, and just above it is the link for checking for vulnerabilities. First Direct recommended that after scanning and fixing I should restart the computer and run a further scan after which they restored our internet banking facility so they must really trust this site. I just thought I would pass it on for future reference.
