I thought it would be safer to not take too many Euros, as we knew that there was a cash machine that we could use that didn't cost us in commission or in exchange rate with bank, but it couldn't carry out transaction so we tried again, same thing (total E100 or £78) but his bank still took the money out of his account. After 5 mobile phone calls (£31) he was finally given an emergency overdraft. Which was good as by this time we didn't have any cash, not even taxi fare back to airport.

When we got home he had a letter saying that he had an unauthorised overdraft and well not very nice what they would do and not do.

Checked the account yesterday morning and it is showing the two transactions as being returned to account on 29th, which was the first day of phone calls. So he phoned them, and i've typed up a not very nice letter, telling them what we expect them to do regarding the cost of the phone calls, as i put it, if the money had been returned to account on 29th as the stated on the statement, we wouldn't have had to spend the money on phone calls. BTW i checked when we got back on Wednesday but the account was showing the overdraft, no sign of the returned money. But hey that's banks for you.
