Holographic embossing powder help |
Lead | |
|
my friend bought some holographic embossing powder this morning, but the results she got from it were very disappointing. We tried different inkpads and
different colours of card but ended up with images ranging from really bad to bl***y awful. are we doing something wrong or is holograhic embossing powder just
a complete waste of money

I have never tried holographic ep, but having some experience with all kinds of embossing powders, I would suggest you use it on solid stamps. If you use it
on line stamps the holographic effect might get lost.

The very first embossing powder I had was holographic and it never worked in fact it put me off embossing for well over a year until I thought i would risk it
and buy one of the glitter and sparkle embossing powders from joanna, where upon embossing suddenly worked for me.

you have to keep the heat gun on a while longer than normal but it is very easy to burn the card you are working on, I dont use mine anymore as I dont really
like the effect it gives....Ann d xx

I used a Versamark pink ink pad and clear holographic on white card 210 or 230 I think it was. Very pleased with the result. It was a large rose background
stamp, quite a bit of detail.

It might be the wrong type of ink pad is used. Pigment inks I've used for embosing with the holographic powder have come up beautiful, used an old tub if
it this morning (bought 3 years ago) and stil glitters.

Isn't the holographic embossing powder supposed to be used on dark backgrounds so that it shows all different colours? I am not that keen on it also? Still
have my frst tub of it. Hugs Pammi

Holographic powder is great if you colour in some detail with a coloured embossing or versamark pen (e.g. a fairy's wings), then use it.
Also, it's brilliant if you sprinkle some onto triple embossed panels for extra interest. For regular stamping, especially on pale cards and using detailed stamps, it's not great, but have a play with a few different idea's - it's not ready for swaps yet. Hope you see this because the original post was put on a while ago. Donna X |
