Had a phone call from my 13 year olds head of year yesterday afternoon to say that she has been excluded for 3 days, and that she was in isolation and would
have to go into isolation for another 3 days when she returns to school, and could we come into school at 3.15 for a meeting with her and the deputy
head
Apparantly over a week ago, as a dare, she had lifted her shirt and showed a boy her bra, the boy only complained about it yesterday morning and said he was very upset. Why has it taken over a week for him to complain? Isabel said that the teacher had called her a liar, and she had to write a statement about the events, my OH was very angry and asked why she was being punished three times, the only answer was that it was school policy.
They also brought up another incident regarding comments on Bebo, where an allegation had been made about Isabel and her friends comments to another girl, the teacher read out the comments, which were 7 months old. I asked the teacher what the other girl had said to Isabel and she admitted that the printout only showed what Isabel and her friend had said, I told her that she only had one half of the story. The teacher then said that no action would be taken over this incident. However we later found out that her friend has been given 2 days isolation over this matter.
The head of year is only young, and we felt that she was talking down to us
On the other hand the deputy head has been at the school for a long time and he was very helpful, and said he would have a meeting with her when she
returns to school next week.
We also feel that Isabel is being bullied by some teachers, surely they are there to try and help the pupils.
Isabel is no angel, but she is always polite and helpful, the problem is that she is prone to silliness and wants to be the class clown, but now she says she hates school and never wants to go back.
I am aware that teachers have a difficult job in todays world, but I think the punishment is too harsh ....
