Pressed Flowers |

Does anyone press their own flowers? My mum has a fabulous wild life garden and I would love to press one or two to use for crafting but am unsure how to go
about it all and what to use to stop them crumbling. Any tips greatfully recieved.

When I first moved here I pressed loads of flowers but never actually used them on cards. I put them between two paper tissues and then in between the pages of
a telephone directory. You can get quite a lot in one directory. Then I just left them to dry and it seemed to work quite well.

There are lots of ways to press flowers. Telephone Diectories, air presses, microwave presses etc. Joanna has published some books on pressed flowers tho'
I'm not sure if they are still in print. Search on Amazon or ebay and you will find some.
Wildflowers are lovely but some are endangered species so take care when picking them. Dainty flat flowers can be pressed in a book but multi petalled flowers need different methods to press successfully. There are various ways you can protect the pressed flowers when mounted onto cards. Joanna sells self adhesive film which is good. Any of the pressed flower books will give you more advice. Good luck! Carolyn D |

I have 2 flower presses & they work really well, they have a paper just like blotting paper in between the sheets....I have in the past used tissues &
kitchen paper in phone books etc.
Joanna uses pressed flowers on some of her cards and they are stunning and I think give a really nice finish. Good luck! Luv Wiggybear x |

I bought the flower press from Joannas shop some weeks ago. I have used it to press pansies and primulas They came out really well and were ready in a few
days. This is now leading me to buy a laminater.

I have a couple of the wooden type of press, bought from a car boot. I have loads of wild flowers in my garden and around. I would say try lots of them, some
press better than others, some keep their colour better and for longer than others. I have some in plastic boxes which were pressed three years ago and can
still be used on cards etc. So just press some and you will find the ones which work. I have a load of daisies in at the moment, they last for ages and press
well. Good luck.
