hard drive and virtual memory as I keep getting told that my Virtual memory is low
and when I check my hard drive it tells me that I am only using 20% of my hard drive

Can anyone tell me what the difference is between
hard drive and virtual memory as I keep getting told that my Virtual memory is low and when I check my hard drive it tells me that I am only using 20% of my hard drive harmony |

Just a quick question have you tried restarting the computer since you had the warning message????
I would do a restart and see if you still have a problem |

what version of windows are you running?? Virtual memory as far as I remember does use harddrive space - so if you have not used much of your hard drive space you should be fine In winXP go to the Control panel and then Performance and Maintenance - System - then select the Advanced Tab - Then click on Performance Settings - then
Advanced Tab - this then takes you to a window that you can alter your virtual memory (must be a quicker way to get you to this point Just have a look and see what the settings are set to Windows should list in that screen a recommendation - on my computer the minimum is set to a bit under the recommended and the Max is set a bit above. Or you can select for the system to maintain this file Hope that helps Richard |
