Home made hot cross buns are always popular in our house for good Friday and so easy to do in a bread maker.

Half pint milk
2 oz fat
1 egg

500grm flour
125grm sugar
1 sachet dried yeast
cinnamon nutmeg mixed spice to taste I use 1 tsp of each
125 grm dried fruit

First warm the milk and fat for a minute in microwave then add egg and mix well. Pur into bread maker pan
Add dried ingredients omitting dried fruit
Set machine to dough only.
after 15 mins or so, or at the start of second kneading add the dried fruit.
When machine stops mine takes 1 hour 20 mins. Take dough out. knock back and form into 12 buns.
cut a cross on each one and leave to rise for half an hour. I put mine in oven at lowest setting .
Glaze with two tbs sugar and three tbs water heated until it dissolves. brush over the buns and cook on high until browned. If you have any glaze left over brush over again before the end of cooking.

If you don't have a bread maker the same mix can be done by hand but will need a lot of kneading! and the dried ingredients should be wamed before adding the warmed milk.
