I know many of you are very proficient with the Craft Robo and I hope you don't mind if I write about how I went about doing my first die cuts. It might
help someone else who is starting.
Got a stern lecture from OH about it not being worth all that money to sit in the box so I had to JUST DO IT no matter how scary it seemed.
He helped me install all the drivers onto my computer. There seemed to be lots but it was all wizard driven and straightforward.
I had looked on the UKscrappers forum and looked through the manuals and it all seemed very complicated until I worked out that there is different software involved.
Firstly the Robomaster software which is required to work the machine. This doesn't do everything so people used different drawing packages as well, mainly Inkscape or Corel. A lot of the instructions on the web are for using these with the Robo.
But...there is now Designmaster software which comes free with the Robo and lets you do things like welded words and autotrace very easily.
I decided to concentrate on this software and get used to doing simple things with it so I was able to ignore most of the confusing bits. There are tutorials on the graphtec crafty-club site and I worked my way through these until I had an idea of what most of the buttons on the tool bar did.
The welded words and outline were straightforward and I felt really pleased with myself when I managed to cut out a phrase.
There is an autotrace function (file - acquire image - scan and trace wizard). I used it with my Gwyneth Windsor silhouettes CD and it worked beautifully.
I just have to make some cards now
