yeah, i heard this a while ago, very disappointing, i love their stuff. They are still going to have some stuff in their catalogues until there is none left
apparantly. I just received a big order from them recently.

Isn't it a shame - the best packs of miscellaneous-sized mirror & plain & textured paper in loads of colours that I have came from them a year or
so ago. I would give anything to have some more!

I got a catalogue and letter from them today, saying this was the last craft catalogue. They also enclosed a £3 voucher - I am going to Shrewsbury on Saturday
so will pop in and see if they have any bargains
. I will miss the
craft, I have bought loads from them in the past.

It is a shame, but I think I read that they will continue a small range in the main catalogue.
Mags - I have about 10 packs of each colour of those as they were a good buy and stocked up on them ages ago!!!!! |

Paul Church wrote: they were brill weren't they Paul - I have a couple of packs of each colour, but I use it all the time - great for matting and layering. One of the best products they ever did. M ps shall have to be even meaner with it now - every off-cut gets put back in the pack as it is! |

I have just spoken to Lakeland and they say they are expanding their kitchenware section.
It was a difficult decision to cancel out the crafts they say. There is no Lakeland up here so if anyone would like my voucher just pm me and the first person to reply will get it. There is no way I can get to a shop before the voucher runs out in June. Love Cynthia x |

it was lakeland xmas card kit that got me into crafting so it's the end of an era for me!
i used to get loads of their craft stuff, thought it was a bit pricey sometimes but the quality more than made up for it. i have had so-called deals from c&c n the quality is rubbish on quite a few things i've had, coupled with the problems i just dont bother now. but lakeland always had something to tempt me when i received their new leaflets each season. so sorry to hear they are discontinuing it all. chell x |

That's a pity as I think their card blanks are very good value and great quality

I agree, it is a shame. I have a birthday next week, so might spend some birthday cash in my local store. I pop into Lakeland from time to time, it can be
difficult rushing from work as they close bang on 5:30, so don't go as often as I would like to. Whenever I have been in though can't say I have seen
many people browsing the kitchen stuff but there is always people in the craft section. This will be a big loss, but I have heard the managing directors want
to change the direction of the store and bring it back to kitchen goods. This might be a good time to pick up some bargains..

if you think how much space a pack of paper takes up - say at £5 and that same space could have three kitchen gadgety small things at £12-15 - I think it's
just that craft items are relatively inexpensive sometimes compared to the larger kitchen items that could be trading in the same space - shop space is so very
expensive with rates, staff costs and what have you that they need to maximise their turnover on every square inch
but haa haaa - who ever said you could make millions of profit on crafts - interesting that people are gradually finding out that crafts are a fabulous industry to be in - but may not always make as much profit as some others - well unless you're a TV station lol smiles Joanna |
