Good evening ladies and gentlemen
I haven't been on this forum or any others come to think of it for some months because I decided to have a break from crafting but I've decided that
it's high time I got back into the swing of things. A perfect occassion has now come to light, a work colleague of mine of many years with the company has
decided to take early retirement. She's an avid gardener and bird watcher, so I thought it would be a great idea to make up a keepsake book for her with,
say, half a dozen pages or so of flowers and birds. (I'm not looking for a bookatrix card).
The thing is I don't know how to do it and I know there are so many talented crafters on here I thought it would be the best place to ask. Ideally I would
like measurements (thinking about A4/A5) size together with instructions on how to put it all together. I know I'm probably asking alot but with so many
blogs about these days maybe someone has a tutorial on their site?
Also could someone please tell me what paper you use to print out your decoupage and backing papers, I keep hearing about cheap copying paper but I don't
seem to get the same looking results as Joanna does on C&C. I've got photo paper but that just drinks my ink - printed some sheets out the other week
and from a brand new cartridge I printed out 12 sheets before it was empty and at £30 a time I don't think thats economical!
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance

for decoupage i use satin or silk or cheap gloss photo paper from 99p shop or poundland it depends if the card is being sold to what paper i use if its being
sold its the cheaper stuff if its for family or friends its silk or satin

Hi Cheryl what a lovely project to take on ....
Ive a bragg book in my albums if you want to have a look At the moment i dont have the money to buy such things as Bind it all etc to make books but i make do lol I used A4 sheets of card and decided what size i would make it and using my easi score board i made the "spine" of the book and using a punch i made my holes for brads and in the case of my bragg book i used everyday paper fasheners 60 for 50p lol before bringing all the pages together i used backing papers and small pictures and other bits and bobs ... regarding the amount of ink you are using id go into your printer settings every printer is different but id set it on Standard as this is the middle of the road setting and this might reduce your usage of ink again ive used high quality printing paper and got a lovely effect i just experiment with paper or ive used a finer card for decoupage with the desired effect so have a play I wish you every success in your wee project Hugs Anne xxxxxxxx |

and if you use the fast button on your printer( if you have one) it uses less ink , i believe........also we have our cartridges filled in a computer shop
near us, at a fraction of the cost of the ones in shops

Hi Cheryl
Try the photo paper from Joanna's shop, I never use anything else, it is reasonably priced and looks great. What about making a concertina book, have a look at the gallery on the Stampman website. They are just a long concertina strip of card or you could use A5 card and join them with ribbon to fold them up Claire xx |

Thank you all for your replies, Anne and Denise....your cards are simply stunning. It's not quite the idea I had in mind but maybe
if I can't do the book then I could do a similar book to yourselves. I take it that just several cards stuck back to back to make an accordian style? I
certainly will put the picture up for you too see, that would be my first time! |

Hi Cheryl,
Have you thought about making up an 8X8 scrap book. Nice size and of course you can add as much or as little pages as needed. I use Navigator 120g paper (from Costco), it is a lovely smooth paper, that produces a subtle matt finish when printed out. Hope that helps. Carol x |

Thank you for your reply, I don't think to be honest she would appreciate a little scrapbook, she always loves the cards I do and I just wanted to make her a really special card. What I want to do is probably so simple when you know how but I can't for the life of me figure out how you make a little book with pages to include inserts! I think I'm having a senior moment at 40 something  Sadly we don't have Costco here that I'm aware of and our local Tesco's is rubbish! Think I will have to order from Joanna but
I've just got so much to print out and make that I wanted it to be as cost effective as possible. Thanks for helping though...Cheryl x
