Problems Embossing on Mirror Card |
Lead | |
|
Saw a card some time ago at a show that had part of the image stamped onto black mirror card and embossed with white. I tried this but results were poor. I
stamped the image with versamark pad and used white detail embossing powder but when I shook off the excess powder there was a fine dusting left behind all
over the area. Tried again but this time I used an anti-static bag first but the results were just the same. Next I tried with regular embossing powder as I
thought that the detail embossing powder could be the problem as it is so fine, still not good. It's not just odd specks of powder that could be removed
with a paintbrush but a fine dusting all over. Has anyone else had this problem or can anyone offer a solution? Maybe mirror card is not really suitable for
embossing although the card that inspired me had been made by embossing white image on black mirror card. HELP!

I did have this problem once but once i had heated the image the dusting just wiped off. Not much help really but thought if you hadn't tried it then may
be worth a go.

You could try embossing with a white ink pad and using clear embossing powder.

Jenny, after heating the image the 'dust' became permanent fog.
Ann, I haven't tried using white ink with clear embossing powder on black mirror card, will give it a go. Thanks. Brenda, maybe that's my problem too as I'm always getting little 'electric shocks' when touching metal, especially in warm weather. Thanks for all your suggestions |

Have you tried a fine dusting of talc first and wipe over with a tissue before stamping.

I haven't tried it yet but someone suggested to me to wipe over a tumble drier sheet and someone else said to wipe the card with a metal coat hanger,
apparently this removes the static - hope this helps - Pat
