Hi all, I am just dipping my toe into the forum and came across this post. Now you have my tummy rumbling. I love making Christmas cake as it gets me in the
mood but DH has been diagnosed with diabetis so not sure what to make this year. Does anyone have a receipe that does not include so much sugar? Would love
to hear any suggestions.

The Christmas pudding was wonderful. It is a low fat recipe stuffed with all kinds of dried fruit - apricots, peaches figs, in addition to the usual currants,
sultanas, raisins etc. Gorgeous - have saved some for tomorrow - what a shame my husband won't be at home to share it tomorrow
.

Love your Christmas Pud story Mags, thanks for sharing.
By the way I dont do any cooking or baking of any description. Since my husband retired he has taken over the kitchen so I leave him to it. Today he has made a batch of shortbread biscuits, have tested them and they are good. I did mention Christmas cake and mince pies just so he has plenty of time to get cracking while I play with my new JS CD,s Dolly |

Funny you should tell that lovely story Mags. My sister in law had a craving for christmas pud when she was pregnant with her youngest son. Only trouble was it
was the middle of July and she had eaten all of the ones in the family and OH was sent out at middnight to try and round up another one as she was desperate.
The neighbours weren't too happy being woken up and it took six houses to find one.
He tried to buy some the next day but thirty years ago getting a Christmas pud in the middle of the summer was nigh on impossible. Luckily her craving passed after a few weeks (she then went on to fancy marmalade and mushrooms on toast!!! yuk!!!) Nina x |

I ahte cooking with a vengeance but OH does it so it works out fine - I get the washing up though! The reference to Delia Smith made me laugh though -
that's the lady who says you can used left over wine in recipes..................... HELLO??????? LEFT OVER WINE?????????

Ooooooo........... don't make cakes or puds anymore or buy them as OH doesn't eat them.
BUT I simply adore both! Any chance of a sample - after you have fed them well!!! ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

Hi, rreading about christmas puds bought back a long lost memory. It was my first christmas being married and invited the family over for lunch. Read the
instructions on the xmas pud (shop bought) wont pretend I made it and it said place in bowl of water, bring to boil and simmer for ...... hours. WELL, to this
day I swear it had no mention of placing the pud in a bowl that then went into the pan. Hence, I kept checking it and bit by bit it dissolved in the water,
but I thought, NO it will obviously all get back together into one pudding shape when the time is up. Yep, you guessed it ended up with a saucepan of hot
brown water with bits floating in it. Never, ever attempted to cook a xmas pud again.

lol @barbara. not the only one with disasters lol mines burnt last night but it was because my tin was to big for the amount of mixture but I will do it again
and double up as the middle bit that didn't burn was good lol.
Still need to know how you go about feeding it thou Lorraine |
