Posts: 1181 (16/01/2008 11:05:51) Reply Quote More My Recent Posts Message Me Connection Blocking Invite Ignore User's Posts Report Post	Tags : None I am try to get more into watercolour with sakura, the problem, im getting 1. When i put a small amount on to the paper then blend them in, they seam to have already dryed on the paper and you get a tiny amount of ink to blend in with and i'm left with a very strong line on ink. 2. when i use my acrylic block and put the ink on to paper again they will not blend it drys quick. The best result i have got is using gloss paper any other paper it goes wrong. What am i doing wrong?. Sarah.

Posts: 490 (16/01/2008 13:18:30) Reply Quote More My Recent Posts Message Me Connection Blocking Invite Ignore User's Posts Report Post	What I tend to do is tap out the ink onto some acetate or an acrylic block then take up the ink with my water brush. You can then blend the colours onto your image and you don't get a severe edge. If the card stock you are using is very absorbant, go over the image with a bit of water first and allow to dry, that way, when you use the ink or paints, the paper doesn't soak it up as quick. hope that helps Hugs Ann xxx

Put ink on with one then quickly blend with the water brush but yes you do have to be quick!! It depends on the cardstock as to the effect. HTH

Posts: 757 (16/01/2008 15:44:44) Reply Quote More My Recent Posts Message Me Connection Blocking Invite Ignore User's Posts Report Post	I have had success watercolouring with Sakura pens, but it does depend on the type of pen and the surface you are using. For instance Stardust pens will not work on acetate or gloss card. Whereas, Souffle works on everything, except funky foam and Hobbymaker is fine on all surfaces. For direct to stamps you need either, Hobbymaker, Moonlight or Shadow. Hope this helps a bit.

Alternatively I draw ink lines next to the stamped lines and then draw out the colour with my brush, that works really well on some images, especially I find with the Superpoints Lavender XX

Occasionally will draw round the outline and "pull-in" from there with the damp brush. i.e. just recently doing flowers and went round edge of petals and pulled colour in from edge, and then did leaves - outside edge and then the veins, and pulled out following leaf shape if that makes sense. If I am using Marvy pens etc - will either do above or sometimes wipe the damp brush along the felt tip. Mags

The Gelly Rolls are quite unique in that you can watercolour with them, but one dry they are permanent and water-proof. This can cause a problem if you are using direct to paper, as you have to be quick. Best method is either take the brush to the pen and apply or use something as a palette, either tin lid, acetate, acryllic block etc and lift your colour from there. If you want stardust on acetate or anything else for that matter, then use a Glaze Clear to set the ink, either put the glaze down first and mix with whatever you are using or visa versa. Stardust will set on some acetate's as there are differences in what is being supplied to retailers and the ticker acetate's will actually sometimes hold the ink, or if you use the rougher side on ink-jet or laser acetate all our pens will hold to that.
