Sounds interesting, wouldn't have a clue how you'd go about it though.
Hope you sort something out.
Good Luck

I have sat on the touchline for a long time wondering wether it would
be right and fair for a manufacturer to join the forum of a retailer... and have had to join today to say PLEASE PLEASE ensure you
have all your copyright bases covered before you approach ANYONE with your idea. Show it to NO ONE - not even your best friend!!! Particularly your best friend!
Post a set of your drawings to yourself, mark them 'Copyright material' and get the envelope handstamped to ensure the date is clearly visible. Also register your design with the Intellectual Property Office using a 1/77 form that is downloadable from their website. http://www.ipo.gov.uk/patent/p-applying/p-apply/p-apply-fill177.htm You do not have to part with any money at this stage. It is a good idea to contact the Inventors Club in your area as they will save you lots of time, money and effort. Josie |

Josie is quite right - but can I also add from bitter experience that unless you are Rockafella - taking people to court to fight your corner is sometimes out
of our league ... there is so much *me too* (polite word for copying) and if your idea was copied you would be in a long line of craft products for the past
few years - I have seen people have ideas that have been unknowingly copied, deliberately copied and maliciously copied - its all the roller coaster ride we
call the crafts industry
main thing I would say is do take your idea one step further - seeing something similar in a year or sos time and saying oh look thats like the idea I had is ever so sad when it could be you enjoying the fun of having a design out there! |

Thankyou Josie and Joanna for your very valued advice? I know it can be a mine field out there?
having done a creative writing course i knew about the copyright aspect of sending it to myself, but NOT the applying for patent bit? I am so grateful to all of you for all the advice? PS i haven't shown it to anyone? Hugs Pammi |
