Cuttlebug or Wizard? |
Lead | |
|
I feel it's time to treat myself to a die cutting/embossing machine. I've seen some beautiful results in the cards some of you have shared on the
forum. Never seen either machine in 'real life' and just don't know which to go for. Wondered if you lovely Sheenies can share your thoughts on
the machines, expecially if you have both - which do you prefer? And is one easier to use than the other?

Oooooh Jenny, I'm going to be so interested in seeing the replies to this as I'm in the same position as you. I've seen so many lovely things done
with the cuttlebug though that I think I'll be going for this!

Hello Jenny and Chrissie
I cannot comment on the wizard because i do not own one but i do have the cuttlebug and wouldnt swap it for anything! The embossing folders are brilliant and also the dies. You can use any die on this machine E.g sizzix quickutz, sizzlits accucut and x-cut dies which definately makes it a good all rounder. The cost of the embossing folders and dies are also very reasonable e.g A6 embossing folder £3.49. Hope this helps a little Diane |

I have the Wizard, and wouldn't swap it for anything else. You can use almost all other makes of dies, and can emboss using your existing brass stencils
too. Fiskars background embossers look great on mirri card. It's a solid metal machine, and it's own make of dies cut and emboss (using the same
die). It also flattens bottle tops, and embosses from charms, etc. I can't recommend it highly enough.

Anything you can do or use in a cuttlebug you can do on the wizard. The wizard is more robust being made of metal instead of plastic & metal, it's
plates are better quality and less likely to break, the cuttlebugs are prone to bowing and eventual cracking. The cuttlebug isnt guaranteed if you use
anything other than provocraft products whereas spellbinders encourage you to play with other makes of dies & household items. The wizard can also smash
bottlecaps & emboss metal charms. The positives for the bug are that it's more compact to store and supposedly easier to use first time. The wizard
needs for the dies & stencils to be placed away from the front lip to make it easy to feed, most people dont get that the first time & struggle until
they do.

I do not have a cuttlebug but I do have a wizard. However, although I like the wizard, it is sometimes hard work on the arms, and the plates shoot out the
other end sometimes. I have now bought a big shot and I find that very easy. Love Nannywendy xxx

Thanks Nannywendy, I wondered if it might be hard to work the lever on the wizard. I think I'll have to find a shop that stocks the machines and see if I
can have a go.
