Posts: 132 (20/03/2008 17:38:59) Reply Quote More My Recent Posts Message Me Connection Blocking Invite Ignore User's Posts Report Post	Tags : None We had to do the 300 mile round trip to Great Ormond St hospital with my eldest that we do every three months at the beginning of the week. My very elderly grandmother gave me £20 towards the fares, I was so grateful and phoned her to say so. She then said she would give her other three grandchildren some money for their holidays this year. I found myself overcome with jealousy because we haven't had a holiday in five years and the last one was only courtesy of a 'cheap deal' in the newspaper. I get helped with a necessity and they get helped with holidays ( which they can afford to take anyway). I feel awful for being jealous but can't help it...life seems so unfair to me right now. Sorry for waffling on, I know I can let my feelings out on here hopefully I'll feel better about it soon. Karen

But I do know how you feel, my sister is married to a millionaire and sometimes I see all they do and the things they have, and it's hard! Take care, and try not to blame yourself, it's only natural. However, I do suppose that your darling grandmother is only thinking that she needs to be fair - can't give one without the others - I struggle with this too - if I buy something for one grandchild and/or niece, I generally end up spending an equal amount on the others too! (Costs me a small fortune!!!LOL!!). Christine xx

Your child won't get the money to spend because it's gone on fares and the others can spend it (possibly)on themselves. You are thinking of your child and that's natural. Life is unfair at times. My sister and I are really struggling to pay the bills at the moment. My dad married a fairly well off woman and they can't even bother to take a few pence from their winter fuel or TV license allowance, which they don't need, to phone us. Life isn't fair but it sounds as if your grandmother is trying to help in a little way not make you feel bad. Take care. Fran.x
