At our school we have 18 out of the 24 teachers that we have planning to strike ,
and as the rest are not allowed to cover , we have had no choice but to close harmony |

That will be good here as that is DS's 3rd Birthday. He goes to playgroup on Thursdays, OH has booked the day off and if DD is off school we can celebrate
properly.

The teachers NEVER went on strike when I was at school. Just my luck. I hated school.

They are going on strike for more money. My union isn't striking, I don't think they will get the 10% they want. All the teachers who do strike
won't get paid so they will be even worse off. There are a lot of things they could try but have voted to strike, I feel sorry for the children at
secondary school who are revising for O and A levels as these exams could affect their futures.

It's teh NUT who are striking...... all other teachers are required to be in school - unless their headteacher directs them otherwise. The major problem is
Safety ratios of staff to pupils and the fact that a non-striking teacher is not allowed to cover for a teacher who is on strike. Haven't heard from
Ikklewol's primary school... but in my school the headteacher has given the NUT members until Monday 21st to inform her if they intend to strike or
not...... I shall be in school catching up on paperwork if the students are sent home!
(the reason why is down to the NUT believing they can blackmail the government into increasing the below inflation pay deal that has been set for the next 3 year (approx 2% increase per year). All teachers get paid on the same scale unless they work in Inner London, Outer London or the fringe (eg Surrey) House prices, fuel costs etc are increasing and teachers salaries aren't!! (rant over!!)) |
