I bought the Peony trees from QVC a couple of weeks ago when they were a tsv. They are doing well so far with a few buds on each. I know this sounds daft but I have bought a packet of dandelion seeds and other weeds for the tortoise. I'm going to grow pansies and other bits for him too.

Posts: 532 (07/04/2008 21:17:20) Reply Quote More My Recent Posts Message Me Connection Blocking Invite Ignore User's Posts Report Post	hubby is going to build me a raised flower bed in the summer,can't really manage any planting till then,also its needed to rid my flowers of bindweed horrible stuff,so at the moment i just have a small cherry tree,which the birds love and bindweed..lol oh and a HUGE shed my hubby built,thats why he agreed to build me a raised bed,to compensate for the second house in the back garden..lol regards sharon

They are in pots outside, and one is braver than the other two, but all are pushing open their buds well now. We bought the fuchsia TSV last year from QVC, 18 fuchsias for about £16? We planted some at my mums and took a lot to France. They were fantastic plants, some we planted over there as they were supposed to be hardy? We don't know if they survived so we have bought some more from them which arrived this week. Healthy plants and with readily available cuttings to take! One set of 6 should go to 6 or 7 ' tall if allowed to support itself in another plant! Their plants are great! Our front garden is a sea of blue at the moment! Grape hyacinth/muscari. We took most of them out last year we thought! But their babies have taken over. Lovely sight for now though. Will try to take a photo. Hoping our son can eventually find the time to finish our decking soon. It's been half done for over 6 months now. Glyphosate spray is great for your weeds! From Wilko or similar, own brand! Spray (hand spray) the leaves and they absorb it, and it goes down to the roots and kills the roots! Takes a little longer, but good! And when any hits the soil it breaks down, doesn't stay in your soil like other nasty weedkillers! However, protect anything you don't want to kill off, because the spray drifts! Great for bindweed, because every little bit you leave behind grows!

If you cut the top and bottom off a large plastic drinks bottle you can put it over the weed and spray into it, and this stop the spray drifting onto other plants. Not my idea but I can't remeber where I saw it, but it does work. I will have to spend most of my time weeding this year and some plants need dividing. I wanted to garden on sunday I had it all planned, but the snow stopped me. Jan

Alo got mini dahlias coming on very nicely, begonias and ruffled pansies still to arrive. We do have a small border but I mostly do pots lots of them!!

Front garden seems to be a bit of a disaster as all the plants seem to have died in last years floods.Had some beautiful oriental poppies lots of aquilegas pinks some sea hollys none of which have appeared this year.In the back garden we have lost a climbing hydranga which used to have a mass of white blooms have had that one for about 10 years but just bare no leaves or anything this year floods must have killed that as well. chris c

For about 6 months now we have had some visitors - wild rabbits - they are driving me crazy. I love animals and they are nice to look at but the little blighters are digging biiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiig holes everywhere. I go out and fill the holes in and when I look a little while later the holes are back. We have good solid fencing all round but they are still getting in. So I think it is probably pointless planting anything, they'll probably eat anything I plant. The dogs are driving me crazy as well as every time they go outside they are barking all the time because they can smell them. Any suggestions welcome. Norma
