Can someone tell me how to get rid of black backgrounds in some images I have downloaded. I have changed them from png to jpeg ( that has taken me an hour)
and now they are black in the background no matter what I do. If I have asked in the wrong place I apologise.

With pngs, they have a transparent background which doesn't show when they are printed. When you convert them to jpegs you are actually adding a black
background.

If you have "paint" on your pc you can erase the background

OH BLIMEY!!!!
The reason I changed from png to jpeg is because I have Kodak photo programme and it will not open the graphics at all. It just tells me that the file may be damaged. Now that I have changed to png they will open but with black background.. Now I am flummoxed. 
I have still got them in png format but cannot do anything with them. I have no functions to resize or change anything. Its weird because I have others from the same place and they are fine.

I did that by mistake when I bought some scrapbooking sets. I don't know if this will work for you but it did for me. I do all my
stuff in publisher, and that's where they showed black. Put the image into your graphics prog I have PSP,
EDIT<< COPY EDIT>> PASTE AS NEW IMAGE, then go to word// or publisher, or whatever you use, right click and paste, and hopefully the background will be gone. HTH and it works, Jacqui x if not, try putting them back to PNG, don't think it will work but it just might x |

Afternoon all,
Just a quick Thankyou to you for advice. I have managed this morning to download a free trial of paint shop pro and now I can copy the images and take them to another document without the black background. Thanks again for helping |
