I just spotted you posted, spooky I had come on to add a link for embossing with brass stencils on the cuttlebug. I don't have the cuttlebug but came
across the site when looking for something else but thought it might be useful for forum members.
http://www.kars.nl/uk/tips_ideeen.php?page=308&hoofdtitel=Tips&item_id_detail=000059 It is a link to Kars website, I was looking for some beads etc, hope it is useful. Gail |

Yes you can use brass templates, and scrap magic, I use both in my cuttlebug they come out great, also the anja plates then there is no need for a light box.

Yes the results are good with the black mat for the cuttlebug I got mine today, and I was pleased, even though it was a struggle,as you have to stagger the
plates while putting them in, the rules are on the Kars site. June mcnally

June is right. Even with the correct black Cuttlebug embossing mat you have to edge the plates through in a staggered fashion and then it is easier.
I think that direction should come with the mat. People are afeard of breaking their plates. and give up else. |

You also get a good crisp impression if you spray the back of the card lightly with paper-glide or water. Didn't know about staggering the plates - will
try it, as it is a bit of a tight fit otherwise.
BTW, I bought a Wizard embossing mat before the cuttlebug ones came out (got mine from Oyster stamps) and now I've cut it up so that the pieces are just a bit smaller than the stencils -that way i don't get a border around the impression. Guess a rubber mouse mat could be used the same way. Janet |

Having recently purchased a Cuttlebug for our card making club, I was interested in using stencils. I came across this on the forum, so went home and cut a
soft mousemat to the size of the cuttlebug plates, A,B &C. Hey presto, I acheived super results without any extra cost. It makes sense to use what you have
lying around in the house.

Please please dont use that black mat with your cuttlebug, I know of many people on other forums who have broken their machine using it.
The official position from Provocraft is that the bug is not designed for stencil embossing. As crafters we're always looking for ways to get more from our equipment and this mat is one of those, trouble is the bug is prone to breaking when under pressure and this will put it under pressure. If you really must use it for stencils then use the wizard embossing mat and use the same sandwich as you would for cutting thincuts/sizzlets. If you break your machine while stencil embossing and tell the retailer how it broke they are perfectly entitled to, and some do, refuse to honour the warranty. Kars as the wholesaler & supplier of the black mat will hotly contest that there's a problem. If you think I'm just spreading chinese rumours that's your perogative, but please go back through the docrafts forum and you'll find peeps who have broken their bug using it. |
