Posts: 10 (01/05/2008 06:25:33) Reply Quote More My Recent Posts Message Me Connection Blocking Invite Ignore User's Posts Report Post	Tags : None Hi, I seem to have mastered the matting and layering(not as good as most of you) but I struggle with finishing the cards off properly I have been looking at the ones in the CD gallery in here and they are all fantastic. I have bought peel offs, you name it I have got it. Any advise would be great!! Les P.S I have even managed the printing on the right paper I bought some from Joanna shop, her CD,s are lovely and can follow them, bought one from create and craft have loaded it onto the computor but cant seem to get the hang of it. Did all you guys go through this when you first started card making?

I'm new to card making too, starting mid last year. I prefer to use CD's for my cards as they are fantastic value for money. I have a range of CD's, and I use them for different things. Joanna's and Sharon Duncan's I use for toppers, decoupage and backing sheets (lovely designs), Artylicious for backing sheets, Crafters companion for their inserts, and 3d2 cardbuilder for making my own decoupage. I also have some of Robert Addams discs and Card Toonz. Each of these CD's are easy to use, although have to say Joanna and Sharon's are the easiest. I also have a couple of other CD's that are difficult to use and so I don't use them. I am very computer literate, so I find that if I can't work them then they are probably not so user friendly. If you have a specific disc that you are having trouble with, let us know here as there will be someone who can help you. Otherwise, good luck with your card making. Cat xx

Posts: 316 (01/05/2008 06:53:34) Reply Quote More My Recent Posts Message Me Connection Blocking Invite Ignore User's Posts Report Post	Hi Lesalice sometimes all a card needs is a ribbon, or corner peel offs etc, and sometimes when I can't see what a card needs to finish it off I put it to one side and look at it with fresh eyes the next day, it's amazing how you'll look at it differently. This also works if you don't like your finished card, the following day somehow it looks 100% better. Hope this helps. Clair

Then I added flowers, a ribbon and a butterfly and left it. This morning it looks fine (perhaps the crafty fairies finished it for me in the night ).

Looks as if I'm playing snakes n ladders shoving bits of paper, ribbon, card etc about. It's what creates my little mountain on the table as well. Then somewhere out of it appears a card! Great fun. Yes, we all went through it when first starting out, so remember you're not alone there! I found that putting a thin border/line peeloff around the edge of the card/matt on which the topper sits made all the difference. A bit of glitter on the topper can help, depending on the subject (flowers are good for this). An odd gem can help too. It's knowing when to stop, though, that makes the difference! Posts: 1723 (01/05/2008 07:59:26) Reply Quote More My Recent Posts Message Me Connection Blocking Invite Ignore User's Posts Report Post	hello n welcome from me too lesalice. i'd also say stand it up stand back n look for the balance of the card, i.e. does it look 'empty' in one place or too full in parts, your focal point is usually your topper, if i use corners i normally go for top n bottom on same side, with a peel off strip down the other side, have a good look round our profile pages as most of us have pic in there too, mine are in 'my images' there is also a link to photobucket. happy crafting, chell x

Corner peel offs and greetings are very good for finishing off, I'm a big gitter fan too, so most of my cards get some glitter somewhere!! Don't worry, the more cards you make, the easier it gets. Posts: 9328 (01/05/2008 08:16:19) Reply Quote More My Recent Posts Message Me Connection Blocking Invite Ignore User's Posts Report Post	Hi and welcome from me - I think less is more sometimes and often do the base and main feature of the card and leave it aside then as i`m walking past I try and think what`s it missing and go from there I use foam pads or foam tape to add the interest of building the layers up with some depth which helps too Suzanne
