I have just had two disasters with shrink plastic so I have given it up as a bad job. Any tips would be very much appreciated

hi trish, i have done some of this,
i found that if i didn't keep the heat on (move it round by all means) long enough it just did'nt turn out well, it will eventually flatten out, had to use tweezers in tiny corner to keep hold of it, you don't say what your problem was, so dunno if this covers it, but i'll pop it on anyway. i can explain more if you needit. chell x |

I tried it in the oven , worked a treat and very quick , instructions were on the packet of shrink plastic

Leave it for today and try again tomorrow, that seems to help with most things that wont work for me, LOL.....
Oh and if you use the handle of a fairly thin wooden spoon that can help too. Carol x |

Keep the shape as solid as possible, till you're confident using it as fiddly bits twist about more.
Sent you a pm with info to a site, or google 'shrink plastic tutorial' for some others:) San x |

I find that if you wipe it with an anti-static pad (the same as heat embossing) it helps. Also, work on a wooden surface (chopping board) as it does not stick
to wood and also try using a wooden skewer to hold it in place. Also, move the heat gun slowly all over so that the item is being heated all over. If you have
one of those "hairdryer" type heat guns, I do find that they are better. Although some of the new heat guns do have 2 settings.

I use a chopstick to keep it down. Works a treat
Hope this helps Jan x |

Yep, I too use either the end of a wooden spoon, paintbrush or wooden skewer and change from the fast heat tool to the one that looks like a little
hairdryer - it has less 'puff' so the shrink plastic tends not to fly away.

I do a few at the same time and they go on to some foil and in a low oven heat. Never had a failure that way. |
