Another gooseberry bush baby here. Funny, I never questioned the fact that we didn't grow gooseberries in our garden. lol.

From the cabbage patch, I remember my sis howling when she heard Dad say he was going to plant some cabbages - she didn't want any more babies!

My mother was a nurse and told me the facts of life with no fanciful bits -everything named and properly explained, really well. After she'd finished, I
just got off the bed (I'd been lazing on my bed while she talked) and said 'Yuk -I'm never going to do THAT!!!!!' Janet

All my family were left by the Coop milkman and we helped Mum get her divi. We did find out years later that Dad was a milkman for a while....lol
I always tried to tell my son the truth when he asked. Thought that I had done a really good job until I overheard him explaining to his Dad that boys had a penis and girls had a giro |

Don't know if my parents made this up or if it was a family thing.
Babies are the little baboons on Table Mountain. They roll down the mountain wherupon they loose their hair & tails. An aeroplane picks them up & delivers them to the midwife who brings them in her bag. Proof of the missing tail is the mongolian blue spot seen on non caucasian & mixed race babies. Sometimes they don't have far to roll , these ones are a bit more hairy Is it any wonder I ended up as a midwife with 4 of my own children? EuniceX |

My Gran, ever sensible, gave me a book all about it
Actually, come to think of it, I've followed suit with my own children Although they know that they can talk to us about anything, we found a fabulous book which explains everything in a wonderfully teen friendly way. I do remember trying out 'Mummy Laid an Egg' though when they were younger, but really didn't like that at all, found it way too much for young children. Lavender XX |

I don't remember either asking or being told anything about where I came from. However, I think I was created by a
mad scientist.

I was a good Catholic girl, educated by nuns so I thought you got them when God sent them to you. This was confirmed to me because I knew, without being told,
that my mother wanted more children but none ever came. (The "at least I have you" moments were a clue
)
We also had a teacher at our school who was not a Catholic so didn't teach religion, so she came to us while our (nun) teacher taught her class. She was lovely, young and full of life and we all loved her. One day, at the change over, our teacher said she had good news for us, Miss xxxx was getting married and something even more wonderful was happening, did any one know what it could be. Well I did, didn't I? I waved my hand in the air and said "She's going to have a baby!" Well Miss went pink and Sister went purple. Next pupil was asked .... yes, she was marrying a Catholic and becoming one herself. Well I was only twelve and I puzzled for ages. Times were
different then.
