I'm still so useless with this Apple Mac that appeared on christmas morn (2008) from Santa....(Sons and Hubby). It has a touch-screen mouse thingy that
drives you nuts because the arrow/hand thing has a mind of it's own and goes where-ever it wants to........ mainly to never-never land and comes back when
jt's finished playing with tinkle-bell.. I'm sorry it's the medication!!!! ANYWAY.....3 lovely ladies left me some heartwarming and helpful PMs. I
don't know what I've done or haven't done .......but they've completely disappeared.....and the friends bit that I was trying to
'approve.....'....you've all gone too..... PLEASE PLEASE COME BACK....You were all so lovely...and please let me know how I keep you (and your
excellent adivce, esp the lady in the pink jumper with all the pink web-links...the few i'd viewed so far were fab)

can you not have a separate mouse - all our laptops have had a port on the side and we just clip a mouse in when I want to use the pc as I can't handle
tracker balls or any of that malarkey - true to say they are all Windows not Apple Macs .....
just a thought? |

Had to put a mouse on my laptop too, couldn't get on with the pad - like you say it used to fly off in all directions and do lots of things I didn't
want it too lol.

I can't work the "mouse" thingummyjig on a laptop either - have tried on son's and daughter's machines. If we ever invest in one - definitely going to have a proper mouse fitted. Having said that - all the family moan about the mouse I have fitted to this machine - nobody can use it except ikklewol and me. Dawnywol has a right moan when she visits, and yesterday son was having a moan, and he and OH were taking the mickey out of it! Mind you I can't use the keyboard on my husband's computer it is too flat. I wouldn't use the new keyboard that came with this computer, have
stuck with my old one - even if half the letters are unreadable! Good job I am a touch typist. I also have my keyboard up on a slope - bit like the old
fashioned typewriters, as I don't get wrist ache then. (and what is the latest thinking - a sloped keyboard like the old typewriters is much better for
you - why didn't the keyboard manufacturers ask me earlier!) |

I hate the pad thingy on the lap top, treated myself to a proper mouse.... I am sure you could get a mouse for your apple.. wireless is the way to go if you
can, I hate that tail thing.

Noelleacky44salisbury wrote: I have a mac and it is brilliant, if you go into system preference the keyboard and mouse you can set the cursor to any speed you like. It sounds as though
you have it on fast. You can also add a seperate mouse if you don't like the trackpad. Hope this helps. Trish |

Hiya, we have macs as well, and I agree with Trish, it sounds like your settings are on fast. Apple do a usb mouse (they are not that expensive) as the buttons
on the mac mouse do not work the same as a windows mouse.... but please don't give up on the mousepad, it is really handy once you get used to it.. for
instance, using one finger on the pad just moves the cursor around, but moving 2 fingers up and down, scrolls the whole page up and down (that's nifty once
used to it). We have a 'mighty mouse' for occasional use, usually when we have the macbook hooked up to an external monitor...
