had it hot as it had only just finished cooking and wanted some lunch! But I'll try it cool tomorrow - predictably - the others are not having any ... sigh

I call mine dump soup as every thing goes in but have never tried lemon . We crafty folk are not the kind who throw out food or in fact anything that might
come in useful some day !

Just like my mom's stew she puts what she has at hand in and it's different every time
but I have to say it all goes, she has to make an extra pot for us we call it "pot luck stew" but like you Joanna she can't make the same stew twice

Over here we call it Fridge-bottom stewp! A cross between a stew and a soup made from everything in the bottom drawer of the fridge (plus any meat that might

going back lots of years !!! Just me and my dad, mum had died just a few months before and we were struggling
our way around . The electric went off, and we were hungry. We then had a proper fire, so Dad opened a tin of beans, a tin of Fray Bentos corned beef and a tin of oxtail soup, chopped up the corned beef put them all in a saucepan and we balanced it on the fire it was so lovely with dunkey bread. I can remember it now, silly eh. Jen........ |

I too use up my vegetables in soups, it's so nice when you throw everything in together.

I use up all the odd veggies from the fridge along with any meat that needs using up (usually chicken) along with white long grain rice to make a sort of
risotto/savoury rice. If it includes chicken then I boil up the chicken carcass for stock first.
