..... and never try to ice a cake in a rush in hot
weather!
What a day - had to make emergency docs appointment for OH. went to get in car - battery flat as a pancake! Neighbour came to rescue and took us to the
surgery. After docs I went into Boots to hand in prescrip for OH. Left him outside sitting in the shade - bad move! Got back to him to say got to wait 20
mins, when a pigeon decided to christen him - right on top of his head, all down his t-shirt and arm and it splashed onto my trousers! Eventually got taxi
home, and called the homestart people. Yes need a new battery - got car going. After a bite of lunch I then had to go and get a new battery fitted. (yes
me not OH).
Eventually got back to start what I had planned today - finishing icing son's birthday cake for tomorrow. Well think it is worst cake I have ever iced -
a) in a rush b) too hot. Cake was supposed to compliment the huge card I made the other week, well it sort of does! Letters dried out so fast,
wouldn't go in right place, and because I cheated and cut them in white and painted them, couldn't move them without mucking up the cake! Eventually
got dinner, took cake and card over to son. got back put the bins out, watered the garden and came in to do the washing up - no hot water! Who up there
doesn't like me today!
Tomorrow not looking that good either - Ikklewol has a rash so no school, as teacher is pregnant - so Dawnywol playing safe. Ikklewol will be on my doorstep
at 7.30 am! We also have another appointment for OH at docs and I have the fortnightly shop to do. Roll on Wednesday!
I suppose I had better post a piccie of the bad attempt at a cake - so that you can all laugh or commiserate as the case may be! (Did manage to get a little
Hammy on front of the drum!)
Mags
Thanks for kind remarks about cake folks (if you have ever looked in my images you will know I
normally do a better job). fortunately my son understood - and if he hadn't come to visit on Sunday would have done it then at my leisure, instead
of starting mid afternoon today! (originally was going to paint Hammy and then put the drum image in front of him).
Anyway it is not really what it looks like is it, it is what it tastes like - and if I tell you it
was professional mix chocolate sponge, cut into 4 layers and sandwiched with raspberry jam and then lathered (do you like the expression) with more
raspberry jam before icing was put on! so a bit like a blackforest gateaux inside!
Bet you are all drooling now!
