Whilst there, Sass showed us the CISS for the printer and Ruthj and Butterfly were also singing its praises. Problem, my printer can't have a CISS fitted, no too bad, son can have the old printer in his room and we will buy a new epson. Now the real problem, which one do I buy? Haven't got much idea with printers Can anyone give me any guidance. I need a printer/scanner and that is as far as my knowledge goes. Don't want to spend an fortune, but cheapest isn't always best. Thank you in advance for any comments/advice. Keren (a completely lost cause on anything technical)

Posts: 15611 (19/05/2008 12:23:46) Administrator Reply Quote More My Recent Posts Message Me Connection Blocking Invite Ignore User's Posts Report Post	have not a clue about CISS as our Epson throws a complete tantrum if you even talk about compatibles and the like in it's hearing however as far as Epson printers go - i have an Epson photo RX640 which is a printer and scanner and is fine - good repro - takes card and anything you throw at it ........ except compatible ink cartridges

Indivual inks 6 of them that can be purchased individually for about 6.99 or as a multipack for about 37.00. Its a photo printer with scanner. Mine is brilliant I wouldnt be without it. It will print on card too providing it is not textured. Good luck, I hope you get some other replies so you can make an informed decision. I am not really happy with it, Everytime I turn the printer off then back on, it seems to reject the CISS and it can take anything up to 1 hour to resolve it so I can get printing again. I just leave the printer on now, which goes against the environmentally friendly impressin that I am trying to impress upon my family. Once it is working I am pleased with the ink consumption though. With the benefits of hindsight, I would not get a CISS with this model, in fact I would not get this model again as it is so noisy. Sarah xxx

I love the fact of being able to print off any amount from all my CD's (Joanna's CD's). Why don't you have a look at the web site. Liz M

Sarah,will definately cross that model off my list, it was on offer at Tesco, but I don't think that will be the one for me. Really need an idiot proof printer and scanner. I do scan quite a few of my cards and ATC for my photobucket and blog. Thank you for the links Liz and Pennyday, will have to keep investigating. Keren x

It wasn't a cheapier either! I just bought what must be the cheapest HP on the market, at less than £30 with 2 introductory cartridges included, and it does EVERYTHING, It goes to borderless, and takes all types of paper and card. Photo print is excellent. Plus it's NOT a top loader, which the Epson is, but I hate, because it takes AGES to make up it's mind to grab the paper. My Epson uses compatibles, no problem at all, which I get from Tescos, whereas the HP (also takes compatibles) but if you want to use the genuine ink, it's more than the printer. If I had the choice I'd go with HP everytime, except for the ink!! Jacqui x

Posts: 155 (19/05/2008 14:05:47) Reply Quote More My Recent Posts Message Me Connection Blocking Invite Ignore User's Posts Report Post	it seems to me with all printers you have to weigh up not just the cost of the printer but the cartridges as well. many places seem to have great deals on printers but plan to sting you later on the inks. My son who does very little printing buys a new printer about once a year when his inks run out and throws the other away, awful for the environment but he finds it cheaper on his pocket. MY advice always find the cost of replacement cartidges before buying christine xx

Posts: 393 (19/05/2008 14:21:04) Reply Quote More My Recent Posts Message Me Connection Blocking Invite Ignore User's Posts Report Post	Ive not got a epson I have a canon mp 600 and I fill up cartridges up to 20 times before the large black one starts leaking a bit.This makes for very cheep printing take all kinds of weight paper and card has to be helped if its very very thick. Only thing is dont let the ink run dry as it then takes 12 hours to soak rite through . Ronnie

I do use the printer a lot and the inks are hardly going down and the refill bottles are £15 for 6 so I am very happy.
