Inkjet Printer- recommendations? |
Lead | |
|
I think I am going to purchase an Inkjet printer so that I can use all the lovely special papers in Joanna's shop.
Can't use them at the moment as I have a laser printer. Has anyone any recommendations for the best one to get? Jan

well for every printer someone recommends you will get three others that people really hate them and everyone has their own faves - my 2p worth is that I have
an Epson photo printer/scanner and I am very content with it .... takes card, film, acetate, vellum, prints borderless and gives good repro - my personal
choice is to use manufacturers own inks as the printer threw a wobbly without them - but loads of people love their CISS and compatibles - so I don;t suppose I
have helped one jot lololol

Thanks Joanna, Will take a look at the Epson range.
I've had Epson in the past and found them to be very good. My laser printer won't even print on card!... Grrrrr Jan ![]()

chell, I bought that one a few weeks ago, cos my last one was an Epsom too, and loved it.
But it is sooooooooooo noisy, it still makes me jump when it gets going! The black ink thats in is telling me its empty, although I still printed a load of verses and ignored its warning. I have got some compatables ready , question is do you use compatables or original? Obviously compats are cheaper and on the old Epsom they worked a treat, but this monster does enough growling at me, I wonder if I dare to use them. Jen. |

i use originals jen, they're cheap enough so why not, cant say i've noticed the noise, lol. the printer will stop when it's run out so i'd
advise you to just print till it does otherwise your wasting ink. i do use the scanner lots n it's sooo easy, i've even used the copier bit just to run
off a list we both needed, lol.
didn't find it necessary to but the one with the camera dock as our digicam has it's own so saved 50quid there. chell x |

Epsom...photo 200, and an epsom ??? can't remember the number on that one (it's upstairs) both have CISS things on them
The first one died...got another...then before hubby chucked the first he tried the reset thing again, and wouldn't you know it started working again!!!! (probably just needed a rest ha-ha) Hubby gets the inks from Ebay now...6 bottles x2 of each.....cheap as chips and prints fine:) The other printer is a HP1510...pain in the wotsit....only gets used for the scanner/copier part. I'm very happy with my Canon pixma 6700D. It's very quiet, prints an A4 page quickly & has individual ink carts that i find aren't too
expensive.

I have a Canon Pixma IP4000.
It gives good output, printing quickly and quietly. Much quicker than my hubby's Epson R300 and, in my opinion, the colour is nicer too. Takes 5 individual ink cartridges so economical to run. Compatible ink - no problem. Borderless printing if required. Can print on CDs. My printer has done a lot of work - one print job was for spot photos on approx 12k sheets of paper and my trusty Canon coped admirably. (Did the b&w text on a laser printer and used the Canon for the colour stuff.) It's also printed lots of other stuff and has asked for nothing more than the occasional cleaning of the printer head(s). I think the latest version of this printer is the Canon Pixma IP4500 and you need an adapter to use compatible inks with this model. |

While we are discussing printers I wonder if anyone can help me. I have a Canon iP6600D which prints beautiful photos and text BUT never prints from
my crafting CDs with the same colours that I can see on the PC screen. I asked in PC World but couldn't really make sense of the reply. Any suggestions please? Yvonne x |

Experiment with printing on different makes of paper and printer settings to see which gives the best output. (Don't forget to make a note of which paper
and printer settings works best with a particular CD.)
As an example, I get good results printing background papers on Viking's own brand Ink Jet Paper, printer setting set to Plain Paper, and using compatible inks.

I use Staples 160gm paper or cheap photo paper for Joanna's CDs because I think that's what she uses but it may be more to do with the screen
colour. The Colouriser from Crafters Companion should be fantastic but the print never comes out the right colour. I always use Canon inks as I ruined a printer using compatibles. Yvonne |

I bought an Epson DX 8400 in Feb and it drinks ink. It won't print on vellum either. The cartridges are quite expensive too. I had a RX425 before and it
was great but it had the epson problem when it had printed so many pages and stopped working
