Just heard this. How the h--- do they think we can manage anymore rise (and buy craft things)?

How the h..... can they justify a rise as high as that. They seem to be putting prices up willy nilly these days.

I just wish people power could be organised for everyone to say 'enough is enough 'over all of what is going on in the country. So many things that
need sorting out - what a future for children and once this country was the envy of the world.

Well said indeed! We definitely couldn't afford a rise like that, and we both work full-time and only live in a small semi!! The people who make these
decisions just don't live on the same planet!!

Things are going up everywhere. Food is a terrible price now, I can see the difference in how much the general groceries cost me each week, from around £50 to
about £80 now.
Plus I had the letter to renew my medic alert subscription. When I joined it was £15, last year it was £20 and this year they want £25!!!! and they are a charity! |

Then theres the new tax bands on cars, some are going up by 100%, nobody will want these as second hand cars, so we will be left with worthless bits of metal.
Electric company sent me a letter telling me they are going to up my direct debit to £72 a month. Was going to get my hubby a medic alert subscription. This sounds like grumpy old women here, but think we have every right to be grumpy at this rate no money for craft stuff!! Sharon |

I started to notice food price increases hitting my shopping before christmas and I know everyone blames petrol prices but petrol has been going up a long time
and when it suits the supermarkets to compete they can keep prices down. I feel sorry for the younger generations. My son got married 21 months ago and

No Jocks mum you don't sound like a grumpy old women you are saying what we all feel, apperantly Texaco have warned their
petrol stations that they will have to take payment for petrol in advance as they are expecting petrol to be £1.42 per litre and are expecting some very angry
public, too right we have been pillaged by this bunch of shysters in power now, they have given everything away that our parents and grandparent and ourselves
have worked for and all I can see is a bleak future for our children if we don't put a stop to it soon.

I couldn't agree more, Wendy. Trouble is, people like my sister still don't see it and keep voting them back in. All these rise won't affect
politicians as they'll just claim it all in expenses off the taxpayer!

Our fuel prices have really taken off over here, too, as has the cost of food. Fortunately, our electricity is only going up by 1 1/2% this year, but then
France as a nation is very dependent on Nuclear fuel, which no-one wants in the UK. This being a windy area, there are also very many windmills, which again,
no-one wants in the UK. We declined to have gas fitted to our house as it would have meant cutting up the terraces, and they are huge, but as it seems to be
the other fuel hit by shortages, thanks to Russia being the main supplier, I'm actually quite glad, and the new induction hob is as fast and as responsive
as gas.
My mum sends me newspaper cuttings, and it saddens me to see the changes in the UK.

If we were French we would be on strike by now or blocking ports.

I just can't wait until we move to France!

Me and hubby have been thinking of leaving this country, too, and we are no spring chickens. We would only move to Ireland, as both my parents were Irish, but
I'm not sure things are any better over there these days. I can't believe how much this country is going downhill; it saddens me, too, Maz.

Of course electricity, food prices and everything else are rising. After all, who else is going to pay for the £23,000 that MP's are allowed to claim per
year just in EXPENSES for their second homes. This includes up to £100 per week on food bills. The rest is spent on new televisions Sky, fitted kitchens,
mortgage payments, in fact anything they want for their second home. They can't even give a decent rise to people who have fought in wars to save this
country, many of whom have had to sell their homes to pay for their place in a nursing home. I know of an old gent who lived in a nursing home for years on the
proceeds of his home. When the money ran out, he had to be re-housed in a council home, leaving all the friends behind that he had made. He was very elderly
and only had one leg. Where is the justice in this country gone
Okay, down from me soapbox and back to work Luv Pauline xxx |

we have changed our power supplier 3 times in the last year, they give you a good deal then put it up, so we just switch and get the good price again. We are
on fixed rate so we are ok just now. Its time something was done about all this, its ridiculous.
