i love my bed and hate getting out of bed early in the mornings. anyway i am thinking of getting a northern nights featherbeds. i was just wondering if anyone
has one and what do you think of them. in the winter months i must have a electric blanket but with a feather bed it would have to be an over one.

Sorry June, I don't even like feather pillows. But I am sure someone on here has one and they will be able to tell you what they are like.

Used to have one before i got my memory foam bed, it was really comfortable and very snuggly. Don't need one now but if I were to go back to an ordinary
matress (which won't happen) I would recommend one but wouldn't need an electric blanket as well.

i bought my mum and dad one and they adore it. Mum having arthritis needs a lot of support so got her one that gave her it and they adore it.
Some are more work than others. Some need a shake everyday and others are fine just left. But i strongly reccomend them. The only reason i dont have one is because we have a NASA memory foam mattress. |

I think you have to shake feather beds quite a bit - going into the depths of my memory when a school friend had one - of course they have probably improved
since them. Having said that I only like feather pillows - and they have to be plumped everyday.
I always think with beds you need to try the mattress out before you buy, but in past even when I have tried a mattress in a shop - never quite the same when you snuggle down at night. However, I love my memory foam mattress - soooooooooo comfy and don't think you would even need an electric blanket with that. Mags |

I also have a memory foam bed and wouldn't swap it for anything. Modern feather beds may be different, but when I was district nursing, a couple of
patients had feather beds and they were a pig to get the person out of and had to be shaken up every morning to keep them fluffy. I'll stick to my memory
foam - brilliant for my back problems. Janet

Can recommend them. Have a special mattress now so don't need one but they make such a difference to ordinary mattresses and they make the bed warmet in
winter. Don't have a lot of problem looking after them either. We have the NN feather duvet and pillows too. Know I sound like an advert but with
persistant back problems I need to be comfortable in bed.

I dont have a feather bed, but I do have the squishiest, squashiest, cuddliest duvet and on warm nights I lay on top of it and just feel all yummy

I have a NN feather bed, I was having terrible trouble sleeping before, aches in every bit of me, but not now. It is sooooooo comfy, and you would not need an
electric blanket, yet it is cool in summer. I wouldn't give it up for anything. And mine doesn;t need much in the way of shaking, either.

I have memory foam mattress so don't know personally, although a friend of mine has a feather bed and I know she wouldn't swap it for the world.

We're in desperate need of a new bed, so once we've moved and settled a bit we intend to start looking around. This is a very interesting discussion,
thank you, I'll look into the memory foam. I have a memory foam pillow and it's fabulous.

A friend has one of the Northern nights feather bed toppers and loves it. I've got a memory foam topper and I love that. Probably horses for courses.

June I adore my northern nights feather bed and wouldn't be without it. I really miss it if we go away.
Worth every penny I spent on it. Pam x |

I love my featherbed. Actually I have 2 now. I used to have trouble sleeping because of pains in my back, neck and hips but the featherbed has been worth every
penny.
The only thing is if I had known how much I would like it I'd have bought a more expensive one. The down side to it is that I don't agree when they say that the feathers don't come through. They do and it is usually to stick into a very disagreeable part of the anatomy!
(It wouldn't put me off buying another one though.) |

thank you all for all your comments. i have toying with the idea between feather bed or foam mattress. i think i will buy a feather bed for one of the beds and
a foam mattress for the other bed and which one is best i will sleep on that bed.
when i get the featherbed i will get the cover and hope those feathers dont stick into me........................................................... my mother left me some money and although most of it went into savings account i have kept some back to buy all new bed linean from NN. thanks everyone, love june xx |

re feather beds like Janet was talking about. I too was a district nurse and found these the bane of my life. Usually the patient was large with bed
billowing each side. Not very easy to get at/turn or whatever. As she said, they had to be shaken and pummelled every morning. YUK!!
