I would like to add my condolences too and agree with everyone else that you should not feel guilty - you did the best thing you could do and I am sure that
your Mum knew that.

dear julie,
i am very sorry about your sad news. its terrible to lose a mother whatever age and all credit to you for looking after so long. she lived longer because she had your care. what is making me so mad is the fact what happen to her in hospital. now i am a nurse and look after a lot of elderly patients. no patient should not be without a buzzar, especially when they promise you she would have the buzzar. you are in grief now and you also have many things to sort out. i lost my mother last september in hospital. i am just now finished letter last night to say thank you to them. as for you i feel so strongly that you need to write a letter of complaint when you feel you are ready. it maybe months down the line, but that letter needs to be written. the nurses were so wrong not to give her the buzzar especially at night. the wards are semi darkness and you usually have only 3 nurses on the ward and for 3 hours there will only be 2 when the other nurse goes for her break. if you need any help or advice, i am always here even months down the line. i suppose this should be a p.m but i want everyone to see i do not stand for poor quality nursing. i am a nurse with high standards and high expectations, but what is happening to the NHS and what the government is doing to it, it is hard to keep up the standards but there is no excuse for not giving a patient the buzzar. thinking of you and your family love june xx |

My mother was taken in to hospital in 2006 aged 85 because she was dehydrated (no fault of mine, I had doctor in attendance as I was worried). I was told on
Monday evening that she would be coming home but at 5 am on the Tuesday morning I was awoken by police hammering my door to say that she had passed away at 3
am. No explanation given, nothing in medical records to explain why. She was right in her belief. What is going on?
