I was named after Margaret Lockwood,who at the time was my Mothers favourite film star.Any one else on here named after a famous person Nannymarg.

I don`t know about me but with Erin we were trying to pick a name and we were watching Strictly come dancing and Erin was on dancing and we both said we love
that name - we wanted something short and a bit different and we love the name

No idea about my name but one of my brothers was named after Alan Ladd - Mum had him just a few hours after going to the cinema to see an Alan Ladd film. My ex
was named Allan as his Mum loved the place in Scotland (Bridge of Allan)!

My mother couldn't think of any names for me. The boys had been called after family members and she was determined NOT to call the girls after relatives.
Number one girl she gave her her favourite name, at the time of the second girl's birth she was reading Lorna Doone so Lorna was named. I was last and so
she asked my big brother to name me. He said either Hilary or Hazel and my mother didn't like Hilary so I was named after the nut. I like it.

My son got Married last year and the minister was commenting on my name and my DIL`s mothers name she is called Elizabeth Taylor and I am Ann Margaret......Ann

Mum told me she found a badge in the gutter and it had the name Sheila on it.
 Wasn't sure how to take it really!

I was going to be Mary Rose, but my Mum looked at me in my pram one day and said 'you're not a Mary are you my lady Jane'. Dad then insisted that I
was not to be plan Jane and liked the way Jayne Mansfield spelt her's. Wish I had her figure as well
. So, I became Jayne Rosemary. I was so pleased they'd changed it when the
Mary Rose ship was raised  .

I was going to be called Victoria but was named after a girl my mum knew and she loved the name, I likemy name as it's unusual, people always get the
pronunciation wrong (it's sher an with an emphasis on the r) and people i've known for years call me Sharron, and my mum always corrects them
Dad always tells people that he chased my mum and SHE RAN away, but he
caught her
Charlotte was always going to be Charlotte, but Isabel was to be Amelia until she was born then I immediately changed my mind to Isabel, don't know why as I'd not thought of it before
A new baby I saw recently has been called Sid James, his dad said "well the birth was a right Carry On"

Mum wanted to call me Teresa but Dad disliked that name and registered me as Marion Hazel - Marion after my Mum and Hazel after my Aunt. What a joke!! My Mum
loathed her name so much she was always known by her "middle" name, Joan!!!!

i was named after the character in Please Sir! who was played by carol hawkins,which is my sis in laws name,and my married surname is now hawkins,was my dad
psycic ?? lol..wish i'd been born 3 years later though as he said it would have been Amanda after the Don Williams song which i love
