I wondered if any of you have the Ultimate Crafters Companion and could tell me whether its worth getting please? I have been watching it a lot on C and C this week and its tempting me. I did not get it when it first went on Ideal World but lately I think it might be easy having all the gagdets in one place. I have a scoring board, just a plain wooden one and I have a rotatrim. But I would quite like to make my own envelopes and it makes box envelopes and boxes as well. All opnions useful! Sue

Don't like the cutter though, I stick to my trusty fiskars for that job. Hope this helps. Clair

The only thing that is not good on it, is the blade. It will cut paper but not card. It is ideal for envelopes as I used to have problems cutting exactly - I now buy A3 paper and can make A4 envelopes. It is ideal for boxes too. As long as you measure correctly you should not have any problems with it. I love mine. They now have a new cutter which uses Stanley knife blades which I should think will go through card quite easily. I have yet to buy one though. Adele x

I really thought the whole thing was quite flimsy. The idea of it is truely brilliant, especially having the box envelope maker and the templates etc, but I think I will wait until someone comes up with a much sturdier model before I would consider buying it again. But if I hadn't had those boards I might have went for it. Jackie x

I have a card scoring board and use a lot of Anna Griffin templates for various boxes but I don't have an evelope making board. If you buy the board to make envelopes on its own does it still make the very deep envelopes that the Ultimate one can do? Sue

I love the enveloboxes that you can make and it really is the simplest box maker, no having to trim off little bits for the box base. As others have said, the trimmer is not good at all - never used it after the first attempt failed but I dont regret buying mine at all. Maybe you could get one second hand if its a bit pricey - they sometimes come up on ebay. Julie x

I love it, it is definately a must for me. I agree with the comments above about the velcro thing that keeps it closed and the blade (I do not use the board for cutting) but.... I saw Sara demoing it on C&C a couple of days ago and the blade and the closure velcro have been changed. The velco is now a plastic clip and the blade is one that needs stanley knife blades. I will try to buy the new blade at the NEC in november as I am sure they will sell them to people who already have the board. Sarah xxx

I have my own cutter already that I am happy with so will not be too fussed about the one on the ultimate not being that good. Its really the envelope and box bit that seems to be swinging it for me. Seems that most of you are pleased with it from that point of view. I have seen some on ebay but if they have updated the blade and the velcro bit I might as well go for a new one. Thanks All! Sue
