Hello has anyone installed the new version of AVG 8.0.the reason i am asking is it seems to slow the computer down a lot.After talking to our neighbour he has
had 5 friends who say it is playing up there computers also.The old version 7.5 was no problem which is often the case.

It does seem to slow the computer a bit and now takes 6 hours to scan for viruses but I'd rather be slow and safe! I set it to scan late at night and to
switch the computer off when it finishes.

I downloaded the new AVG but it slowed my computer down terribly. Asked a techy expert and it's a known problem! I was advised to download AVAST instead
then uninstall AVG. Did that and I'm back working at full speed again.

I think how much a virus checker affects your PC varies a lot - we had to take norton off as I got really stroppy (I did honest lol) at the mess it was making
of using the PC - but we now have McAfee and it's a little sweetie just workig away quietly and not interrupting nobody rofl

I have just read those they are very helpful as are all your comments.It is like going into battle against all these bugs and viruses.

I installed AVG 8.0 and it did slow my computer down despite the boffins at AVG reassuring me that it wouldn't so I rang them and
they asked me what other security products I had on the computer. I had a version of Norton installed but not activated on my laptop when I bought it and they
said that just having it there would cause a conflict with AVG - thereby slowing it down, they guaranteed that it would work well when I removed Norton. I
also had a couple of spyware checkers, spybot and Spyware doctor installed and when I removed them everything speeded up trememdously so my advice would be to
remove any other products then restart your computer and watch how fast it works.

I had Norton also, and had to remove it as it would not let me do anything, I installed McAfee and it works fine, only problem I have found with it is when i
have to take my computer back a couple of day`s it does`nt like it and play`s up....Ann d xxx

i have been getting really annoyed with my laptop cause it keeps going jerky and its slow .i upgraded to avg 8 but have no other spy ware on ummmmmmm wonder if
its the avg then

avg 8 made my 'puter slow down that much it was nearly going backwards and i didn't have any programs that it should conflict with ,I took it out and
put avast in now it's back to normal

I downloaded AVG 8 and have no problems at all ........ just as fast as it always was. But then I did wipe the previous version and downloaded V8 (free) from
scratch.

I wiped version 7.5 then downloaded the FREE Version 8 and it doesn't appear to be slower

I also did the same and no problems here. Only trouble I had waswith Norton. Deleted it and it took my email programme and all emails wih it.

Another question i thought of to ask you all.How often do you do a full scan daily weekly etc.I have been doing it daily ? Marnot x |

I was using Norton and everyone was saying it slowed everything down so I changed to the latest AVG and had so many problems my computer crashed. Took of AVG
and went back to Norton which works silently in the background and I dont think computer is slow!
