Posts: 1782 (09/06/2008 20:14:17) Reply Quote More My Recent Posts Message Me Connection Blocking Invite Ignore User's Posts Report Post	Tags : None OH went down to visit our eldest in hospital today, the first time he's been able to since I had my heart attack. Bearing in mind that OH suffers from angina himself and he didn't have a great time visiting as Steve had lost all his hair and lost weight following hefty chemo treatment last week so was feeling a little delicate he has been delayed on the train home. He should have been home about 2 hours ago but is still stuck at some station forecourt after overhead line troubles. Is there no justice in the world - he was under stress leaving me home alone for the first time, left at 8.30 this morning and no prospect of getting home sometime soon and I can't even go and fetch him in the car 'cos I'm still not allowed to drive after my heart attack. Are Sheenie powers strong enough to mend overhead wires? Thanks for being there. UPDATE: He's home. Now 10 pm - left Reading at 3 - only takes us 5 hours door to door from the villa in Spain to here and that's with a 2 hour check-in allowance, and costs about the same with Ryanair. Does make you wonder. Anyway he's home eating his heated up curry and drinking lots of tea. Seems to have enjoyed the experience as only an anorak(railway enthusiast) can. The engine driver asked OH to thank me for the information gained from the railway operators website about the replacement bus service - nobody had told him what was going on??? Apparently there's a rail replacement bus service and he got to the front of the queue but the last 2 buses have gone to the other end of the queue. The police have been brought in for crowd control and it was their doing moving the buses along. It's just so frustrating knowing that there is nothing I can do - he has actually been waiting at that station for over 2 hours and the delays are only showing as 60 minutes max. Once on a bus he has half an hours bus journey to the next unaffected station and another hour before he gets home, thats providing there are no further delays. Will keep you updated and thanks for holding my hand while I wait. Marion W

Posts: 1782 (09/06/2008 21:00:53) Reply Quote More My Recent Posts Message Me Connection Blocking Invite Ignore User's Posts Report Post	9 pm and OH has just phoned to say he is finally on a bus headed for our local train station only - well it will be when it gets going, they have decided to run buses all the way rather than actually try and get the trains where they are needed. On this basis he should be home about 10.30 - 11.00. That will be 5andhalf to six hours for a 1 hour journey, and they wonder why people use their cars!!! Will let you know when he arrives and I've made him a well earned cup of tea. Hugs Marion
