does anyone else regularly use a steamer for cooking their veg etc - i had one years ago and gave up on it - but bought a new one at the weekend and have to
say I am really loving it - tonight had baby leeks and sprouts and baby sweetcorn all in one tier and no pans to wash up .... made the whole kitchen thing a
lot less painful I thought ...
anyone recommend a good cookbook for steamers? |

I always use my steamer for veggies - albeit it is just one that came with a tefal saucepan and sits on the top - makes veggies so much nicer.
thanks for that link She, shall take a look, always up for more inspiration. Mags. |

I am so with you on that one Joanna, I wouldn't be without our steamer.....less pots and pans but also the veggies are more tastier. we put most things in
anything that will fit in.
I have to say our bread maker was a good investment too...Oooooo lovely warm bread with loads of butter (not too healthy granted ) but soooo hmmmmm. OH also cooked lovely banana bread sounds yuk but don't knock it till
you've tried it. At least you know what goes in, what with all the
different additives.

I love my steamer, have used it for years. I put OH veggies in one tier, mine in another as we don't like(or cant eat) the same ones!
Also handy if you are dieting as you can weigh limited veg before cooking, saves guesstimating!!! Love Pearl xx

Hi Joanna! We use our steamer every single day! All our veggies taste so much nicer and keep their colour and shape. I steam my stuffed chicken breasts,
wrapped in cling film along with the vegg. My fish is always cooked the same way, in cling film and if we are being a bit naughty, I make a little steam pud
and cook it in the top tier at the same time! We can cook a complete dinner at the same time. I also cook my small Christmas puddings in the steamer when I
make them in October!
I find it saves us a bit of cash in fuel and certainly saves on the washing up!!! Hugs Jen. |

Love my steamer use it lots. Have you also tried the microwave steamer from Morrisons.?
It's only £3.99 and so useful if you arent doing too much veg and no difference in the taste to my big one. |

Never ever had boiled vegetables, I have always used a steamer. Joanna, you can cook almost anything in a steamer - fish is lovely, rice, I have even steamed
potatoes although they do take a little longer, you can also make steamed puds.

I'm not quite sure why I gave up on one before - must have been donkey's years ago - might have been the size of my kitchen then - maybe I was stuck
for space ..... anyway it's nice to know lots of you like steamers too - when I manage to mess something up I can ask for help lolol

I think I will send hubby to buy a steamer tomorrow. I have a basket that fits on top of a pan that I use for asparagus ( A weakness of mine besides
chocolate!) I was just thinking of how much energy it will save. I don't mind spending a bit on my crafty bits-but the fuel bills last quarter sent me into
orbit and I started running around pulling out plugs and switching off lights.
Enjoy your steamer Joanna. xx Chris
