Well. I have progressed from an electric steamer to a handy gizmo which I use in the microwave for steaming all vegs. It can also do fish, etc etc, and cost me
the princely sum of £5 brand new at one of those brilliant hardware stores that sells everything but EVERYTHING. Really worth it, the vegs are lovely and it
saves so much on power.
I have also taken to cooking meringues on top of the wood-burning stove [ when no-one is around, of course LOL]. Yes, I know, going a bit doolally! Judy C |

If you get frozen veg out in the morning before going to work they steam just as well as fresh when coming in from work.
Also does a gorgeous rice pudding and chocolate steam pudding with a choccy sauce...mmmmmmm! Christine xxx |

I use one constantly and have done for about 15 years now - I wouldn't cook veg any other way any more, the flavour is so much better. I put a recipe on
the recipe board the other day for chicken fillets in a foil parcel and this works just as well in a steamer as it does in the oven.

I have to admit that our steamer is the most used pan in the house - wouldn't be without it

Yes, i love my steamer too. Use it all the time for potatoes & most veg....but not cabbage! Tastes awful steamed
Another kitchen gadget i couldn't do without is my George Forman grill. After hubby's heart attack i have to cook low fat & it's great for steaks, burgers etc. Rosie xx |

I love my steamer as well the flavour of veg is so good, also very good when all the family come round for a meal as it has 3 tiers and frees up the cooker and
so easy to wash up.

I got mine streamer second hand with no instructions. i have only used it for veggies, will have to go and have a look on Tin'ternet and see how to cook
rice and other stuff. Anything to save standing at the cooker.

We use our steamer a lot too, they are a fabulous way to cook and so healthy as well.
I love rice steamed in it as ours has a little rice bowl you can use in it. Love steamed chicken in it too, comes out really moist and juicy, mmmm Great for fish and veg as well. Saves on a lot of washing up too. Andrea xx |

What a great thread, I too have a steamer but only use it for veg- never thought of cooking salmon or chicken in it but I will try now.
It has been great reading what you all cook in yours. I cook rice in my rice cooker in the microwave always has great results and done in 7/8 minutes. Have to start planning recipes for next week, I do enjoy cooking but will enjoy it even more now I can experiment more. Thanks Joanna for starting this thread. Helen X |

I love steamers - I never use anything else, I have a Sacchi one which goes on the hob and has 4 tiers (I prefer this to the electric versions), also fantastic
at Xmas, as you cook 4 veg on one hotplate, leaving the other 3 free
