I know it's an odd question, but a friend and I were discussing this recently, and we really wanted to know how it is manufactured and from what it is
manufactured. I thought that those of you in the 'trade' might have some insight. It's something we use all the time and take completely for
granted.

Its not made, it comes from faries..... Im not sure where they get it though

Most modern glitter is made of a thin coat of aluminum on mylar plastic. There are many glitter factories and they make everything from tiny little bits of
glitter to large pieces shaped like birthday cakes, halloween bats, or whatever!
In the past many things were used as glitter, from thin sheets of hardened gelatin broken into tiny bits, mica powder, gemstone grindings, thin bits of metals,-including lead, thin bits of real gold and silver, fish scales and little bits of insect wings and shells, like cicada wings and beetle shells.
