Happy Birthday Nelson Mandela.
It has been a great concert - although when I was singing along to "Give me hope Joanna" I was thinking of a certain person we all know! Mags |

Happy Birthday, Nelson Mandela !
WHAT a man ! I am lucky to have a long association with South Africa as my sister has lived there for many years. It's a fantastic country. One of my trips was to Robbin Island, far out from shore, where Nelson Mandela was imprisoned in a tiny cell. It was a chastening experience. My sister lives in the Zulu heartland of Kwa Zulu Natal not far from the Valley of a Thousand Hills. A spectacular backdrop to the singers and dancers as they entertain. On my first trip, many years ago, they asked for requests. I was fortunate to get them to sing, unaccompanied, 'Nkosi Sikolali Africa', their National Anthem. It reduced me to tears ! It would have been brilliant to have heard the Soweto Gospel Choir sing that last night ! So, Nkosi Sikolali Afrika- God Bless Africa and the AMAZING Nelson Mandela as he reaches 90 !! Best wishes Sonia |
