Reading a post this morning reminded me that as a child I used to be a member of the ovaltinies. There was a song which went something like this
"We are the Ovaltinies happy girls and boys cannot remember the rest. I hope this is alright to put this on here Nannymarg |

A little before my time but everyone seems to know the tune!
My OH sings "We are Joanna Sheenies" to the ovaltine tune whenever he sees me on here!! Sally Bet you all tried it out when you read it too! |

I personally don't remember them but their song is one my mum was and is always singing. Usually the "Happy boys and
Girls" bit in a mock 1930's BBC announcer type voice and in an ironic way when things aren't going right!

My brother & I joined the Ovaltinies one year when we were on holiday at Margate. From what I remember there was a live show there every day & we loved
it. Pretty sad to find there was nothing like it where we lived. Apart from the Ovaltinies song the other one that sticks in my mind was the one that went
'the knee bones connected to the hip bone, the hip bones connected to the ....' & so on. They sang it holding cardboard skeletons. Gosh what a
simple life we enjoyed then !

I can remember being in bed and hearing `Oh my pap par, to me you are so wonderful` played on the trumpet on the radio, by Eddie Culvet, that brings back a
lot, dad use to listen to it whenever it was on, Lv Janet xx

Don't remember the Ovaltinies, but I do remember "Journey Into Space"", "Childrens Favourites" with Uncle Mac, and a bit later on,
Saturday Club with Brian Mathew, who played all my favourites like Billy Fury, Elvis, Everly Brothers etc. Ahhh, those were the days!!!
Never Mind, we have John Barrowman now, so it's not all bad!!!
