Wimbledon was terrific! (Pics link added) |

We had tickets on Centre Court on Saturday so saw Jankovic, Murray and Nadal win their matches in continuous play from 1pm through to 9 10, unlike last year
when we saw less than 3 hours' tennis and torrential rain!

Glad you had such a good day - I watched on tv and was gripped by the superb tennis. I love Wimbledon and have been lucky over the years, to go a few times. I
can remember [during GCE's!!] queueing up and getting tickets Centre courtside, a memorable day. In my youth, tennis was my sport as well as riding, and it
is lovely to watch such good sportspeople.

Do you know that I love to watch Wimbledon but this year I just haven't got the time and it is infuriating me. So keep me informed of whats going on
please.
When I was younger you could tell when it was wimbledon as all the bats and balls came out for an airing, we used to tie a string from one gate handle to the other to act as a net. ( Happy Days....) |

I was there yesterday - not on centre though - just on the outside courts and saw some great tennis too, the sun hardly stopped shining and I've caught too
much of it unfortunately on one shoulder!
I usually do a week but not this year for a change. Missed it though and might have to go back to camping for the week again next year! Jx |

I often went into the draw when I was a teenager but never actually got tickets - one day maybe - I do watch but not as fanatically as I did when Martina N and
McEnroe, Connors, Borg etc and all the others were such fun players to watch
so pleased you had such a lovely day

I would love to go to Wimbledon and watch a final on Centre Court. Maybe one day, but the tickets are like gold, aren't they. I would also love to go to
Ladies Day at Ascot in a big hat!! Glad you enjoyed your day, Fiona. Did you have to queue up for tickets?

Anne, DD and I both entered the ballot for tickets about last September. Claire was offered the two Centre Court tickets in February or March and sent off the
money immediately. I didn't hear for a few weeks, then was offered two for this coming Friday on Court 1 for veterans' and boys' matches. I decided
not to bother so those tickets would have been offered in the third round of postings; presumably any still not taken are sold on the gate.
Claire and a friend have been going regularly for years, always with tickets from the ballot. Sometimes one would get them, other years they both had an offer and were able to go twice. Had I needed to queue on the gate I wouldn't have bothered, it was only because Claire's friend married and moved away that she offered me a ticket last year and I enjoyed it so much (despite the rain) I wanted to go again. |
