I'm another recycler/hoarder. I recycle bits of ribbon from clothing and I hoard old buttons. I keep nice bits of gift wrap and acetate from packaging but don't buy gift wrap specially for card making. I recycle packaging for matting and layering and backgrounds and use gift boxes/empty shoe boxes for craft storage. I cut up greyboard for fat book pages. I tend to keep all my birthday cards and special xmas cards so proabably would not recyle elements into new cards, but cut up the general christmas cards to make gift tags and the rest I take to Boots or Tesco for recycling. Keep bits of string, cord and brown wrapping paper to make 'natural' type cards/ ATCs. I keep white tissue paper that is sometimes used as extra packaging and tear it and stamp onto it as an extra embellishment or to make backgrounds for cards or ATCs etc.

I go into charity shops, pound shops etc and have a look around specifically for stuff that I could use on cards - beads, buttons, ribbons and lace etc. My family and friends know me too well, they hoard bits and pieces for me too and I often get big bags of ribbon, braid, lace, bits of packaging, fancy tissue paper and little gems that were originally nail gems.
