Sending positive vibes and thoughts to your Mum, you and the rest of your family. She's already shown she's a fighter and with that sort of spirit

I too have cancer. I had major surgery in october, but it has spread. You do feel very calm. I would rather spend the rest of my days smiling than crying. Dont
be upset when you see your mum it will only make her worry more about you. You do worry more about your family than about yourself. Tell her you love her,that
means more than anything. Good luck and God bless you all.

I don't know if it helps at all, but my mother, at the age of 82, had her whole lower jaw removed and replaced with a rib and muscle/skin from under an arm
for cancer of the jaw. This was followed by 6 weeks of intensive radiotherapy. She then fell, displaced the jaw and had to have the op all over again with the
rib from the other side etc.
She has just turned 88 and in spite of only being able to eat liquidised food, walks miles each week, attends several clubs and is generally much fitter than I am! Good luck to your mum - remember that the oldies are tougher than they look!! Janet

Hi Everyone,
Thanks to you all for your good wishes, prayers etc.. Mum went down to theatre at 8am this morning so we are now undergoing the long wait till 2pm when Dad can phone for news. He sounds really lost this morning but insists he wants to be on his own at their house rather than coming over to me. The house will be like a new pin because he's throwing himself into housework with a real vigour! I'll update you all later when we get some news. Helen x |
