Mum went down to theatre at 8am as planned but when Dad phoned at 2pm, as he'd been told to, HDU had not yet got her with them yet. He was told to phone back 2 hours later. We managed to wait 11/2 hours but then we phoned again. Still no news. By now we were really worried as to whether or not she was OK & what they weren't telling us. We finally got news at 5.30pm, after 91/2 hours of nail biting. Mum was now on HDU & as well as could be expected. Phew......
Dad went to see her last night & she was understandably groggy but she squeezed his hand when he said her name & opened her eyes briefly to say hello. When he phoned this morning they said she was just being given a wash & Dad could actually hear her voice in the background so she's obviously a lot brighter than yesterday.
I don't know when I'm going to go & see her yet as we want to be careful not to overwhelm her. Visitors can be very tiring even though you do want to see them. Dad's got to be there at 4 this afternoon to meet the surgeon & find out how things went. Looks like another long day! Once they've seen him & Dad has assessed the situation I might get to see her for a short while.
More crossed fingers please for good news from the surgeon. I don't know if the biopsy results will be back yet but at least we should get some of idea of how successful the op was.
Helen x
