Now the same thoughts could be applied to a cd, it's someone elses work.
So come on ladies and gents of course, lets have your opinions.

Debate:- CD or kit |
Lead | |
|
Do you prefer to have a cd, where evrything is there taking up little space, or do you prefer to have a kit. With the kits i find that you are making a
product from some one else's idea. But if you have dexterity problems and you still want to have a go then a kit is ideal.

I personally like the ideas of CDs (ok no surprise there lol) - but they are so versatile, and you can use all, parts or mix and match with other CDs etc for
different effects. Oh, and there is no waste with a CD, just print what you want as many times as you need.
BUT they are not for everyone.... its good to have a choice |

umm good question, because in both cases its someone else's original idea, however it is always the individuals interpretation on the creation/end product.
But I think i prefer the cd option takes up less space, having done both. In kit form I always end up with stuff that will probably never get used.

hi jen, i have to say both,
but i do generally take bits that i have printed off n team them up with bits out of kits, got a bear card kit ages ago but recently used a card from it to make a really good condolence card cos it was just the right color/shade, i covered up the bears with a decoupaged lily i took from something else n the envelope i made from something i'd printed off. i do tend to 'marry' things up like this a lot. chell x |

I like both, but Cd's are my favourite as you can do so much from them.

I prefer CD's......................I find that whenever i buy kits i dont use a majority of things that on in it.............it is then a waste of money,
with a CD i can print off as much as i like when i like, also these images can be manipulated in a graphics program if you so wish.

I like both. Variety is the spice of life and ideas transfer from one to the other. I do tend to use CDs more at the moment but only because I have soooo many
and can always find a matching backing paper. Kits for me are less time consuming (as I tend to get sidetracked looking through the CDs) so are good for quick
cards but CDs I find I can use to be creative when time is not so limited. When I want to just 'play' I use neither and work from scratch. Storage and
adaptability are also 2 plusses for CDs.

I do like both. A kit is there ready for when I need a quick card, not much thought usually ... I am sure we all have to do ones like that! A CD is for when I
know what I want and can do a special card, printing off exactly what I need and not have to rely on someone elses idea of what goes with what.
So basically a place for both |

I tend to use a mixture of both depending on what sort of card I'm trying to create. I love the CDs because they can be used lots of times whereas with a
kit there may only be a couple of a favourite image in it.
Definately room for both

I prefer CD as they give you more scope for using your imagination. I have bought kits, but who wants 40 cards all pretty much the same? I bought a multi buy
of one a few months ago as they were so pretty, but I still have one complete kit unused and I haven't sold a single one!
I can't stand Dawn Bibby's kits which are just `take it out of the packet and stick it on` Where's the fun or skill in that? Sue |

CDs for me everytime. Kits always look great when you see them demo'd but I've bought so many in the past and not used them I'd rather stick to cds
and print what I need. It works out loads cheaper and they are much easier to store

I'd like a kit please every time ......
and before you choke on your coffee... i said I'd like a kit not that I buy them - I started buying POTDs and TSVs from the Tv and collecting bits (anyone want 758 plain white very cheap components that make nothing special? or 400000000 buttons lol) anyway what i would like is a kit that PLEASE has very expensive good weight card, lovely envelopes and really pretty designs .... the three are very rarely found together - not saying they aren't out there - just that if they are I am guessing they are full price and not specials on offer somewhere!so for now I will potter on with Cds lol |

I`m a cd person - just love them , they have chaged the way I craft and like that you can print on different surfaces and go back and do the same again 6
months later - it`s handy having everything right here , whenever you want it whatever the time , and love that they don`t take up lots of my little crafting
space
I have had a few kits , but don`t really touch them now except for the flower die cut one by Debbie - they are stunning flowers with the design cut right to the edge , so handy for a quick card I do love watching what can be done with the kits but never feell I could use them to the best advance But give me a CD anyday - I LOVE THEM Suzanne

I like both. I think CDs are better value for money, but I love it when a kit arrives. It is great opening the package and looking at all the bits and pieces
and planning what to do with them .... then generally disappointment sets in when I come to use it...
When I get a CD I like to browse and print off bits and pieces etc. Joanna's CDs are choc-full of variety and everytime I put one in the drive I seem to find something new. I like printing off backgrounds and toppers on different paper and card types to see what results I can get. I have to say I am only a fan of Joanna's and Glenda's CDs - I have been disappointed by other manufacturers on C&C. I also like a good old spend in my local craft shop and finding all my own components. I know I can often pay over the odds for things but I do like getting stuff there and then in smaller amounts and without having to wait for the post man. |

Am I allowed a third option?
Neither. I have been making cards for about 18 years (cross stitch before that) starting with rubber stamps. I have never bought a kit; never bought a cd; never watched a papercraft programme on TV. And yes, I do mean never - my friend nagged me to watch one once but I turned it off after 10 minutes because I couldn't bear the presenter any longer, much to my husband's relief (and no, it definitely wasn't Joanna!!) I make cards/ATCs by cutting the base from sheets of card, often use fancy folds, and decorate with purchased background papers, teabag folding, stamping, stencils, lacé, embellishments (brads, eyelets etc), origami, stitching, iris folding and my beloved Cuttlebug. I spend around 3 hours minimum making a single card. |
